The opportunity
Join a dynamic, fast-paced workshop environment at a leading truck franchise dealership in Wellington.
This role suits a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic who takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, reliability, and customer service while working on commercial truck fleets.
We are also recruiting for similar roles in other locations across NZ - please enquire if you meet the requirements for this role but you prefer another location.

Key responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines and heavy-duty truck systems
- Maintain and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Carry out engine, brake, steering, COF, and accident repairs
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately identify faults and implement solutions
- Work closely with service advisors and team members to deliver efficient turnaround times
Skills and experience sought
- Relevant automotive trade qualification, preferably as a Diesel Mechanic
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, ideally within a dealership or similar environment
- Experience working on late-model trucks
- Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and sound mechanical knowledge
- Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools and technology
- Good communication skills
- Strong understanding of diesel engines and truck systems (brakes, hydraulics, electrical, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-demand, service-driven environment
