This is a full time position based at the Tauranga District Court .

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and adaptable person who has the necessary specialist knowledge, skills, and experience to make a major contribution to assisting victims of crime through the court process.
The Court Victims Advisor role includes * Informing victims of the case against the defendant in the court system and provide updates as required * Facilitating the victim's participation in the process. * Considering safety concerns and support services, sometimes urgently. * Maintaining contact with relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely communication between the parties the victim is interacting with. You'll make an enormous difference to victims through what you do. You will keep victims updated on the progress of their case and help them participate effectively in the Criminal Justice System.

To be successful in this role, you will need: * Strong written and verbal communication skills – with sound judgement and the ability to work across a diverse range of people and stakeholders. Every victim is different, so there is no single approach for all victims. * To be self-aware – you will demonstrate sound judgement and the ability to work autonomously * The ability to multi-task – you will be able to manage conflicting priorities and move from one task to another confidently and professionally in sometimes challenging circumstances * Willingness to learn – legislation and processes in the courts are always changing and you will be able to adapt and maintain knowledge capital * Resilience – you will be working on sensitive cases and sometimes at high volume * Relationship Management - have strong abilities in creating and maintaining effective relationships * Cultural awareness competencies - to enable you to work with all victims and their whanau who are from diverse backgrounds and to have an understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori me onā tikanga * Knowledge - an understanding of the dynamics of Family Violence and Sexual Violence, or have a relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in the sector A full driver's licence is required.
