About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga We have one fixed term part-time, Speech Language Therapist position (0.8 FTE) based in our Porirua regional office until February 2026. The position will work within their local area with flexibility to work across the Greater Wellington region as the business needs requires. You will join a supportive trans-disciplinary team where whanaungatanga and working responsively is valued. As a Speech Language Therapist, you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by: * Enhancing inclusive practices in schools and other educational settings. * Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and building the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning of children and young people. * Providing appropriate specialist assessment and analysis for collaboratively planned evidence informed interventions. * Working as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex. * There may also be opportunities for involvement in project work, as well as individual casework, targeted (group) work, and universal (systems level) work. * Thinking outside the box' and collaboration with others is encouraged, to ensure positive outcomes for students. Salary range: $69,966 - $106,016 per annum plus kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience. About you | Mōhou ake To be successful you will need: * A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Therapy or an equivalent that meets the requirements of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists Association. * Specialist knowledge of theory, research and practice related to speech-language, child and human development and learning and behaviour. * Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information. * Ability to co-ordinate service provision in a multi-agency, trans-disciplinary setting * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settings. * The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga. * The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct. About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake Te Mahau | Educational Services provides leadership and integrated services to the education sector and others. This includes learning support; education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services; and advice and support with curriculum. We also share practice and learnings collaboratively with other Te Mahau and Ministry groups to support insights driven guidance, design, and policy. Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, whānau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and Māori medium settings and with other agencies to help maximise learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.
