Property Lawyer
They pride themselves on offering a collaborative, professional, and genuinely supportive environment where premium-tier legal work and an exceptional firm culture go hand-in-hand.
The Opportunity (The Transition Pathway) The firm is seeking an ambitious lawyer with 18 months or more of experience to join their team as a dedicated Property Lawyer.
While this is a pure property role, the firm is highly open to candidates coming from either a dedicated property background or a General Practice environment. For a lawyer who has spent their early career handling a mix of law but has found themselves naturally drawn to property matters, this is the perfect opportunity to drop other practice areas and transition into a true property specialist.
Unparalleled Mentorship & Team Structure The successful candidate will be fully supported as they transition into this specialised space. The firm's team is uniquely structured to ensure both peer companionship and top-tier professional guidance:
- Peer Support: Working alongside two junior lawyers, creating a great, collaborative, and social team dynamic at an intermediate and junior level.
- Expert Mentorship: Backed by a strong team of senior lawyers and partners who are leading property experts at the forefront of the industry in New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities Working across a varied and high-quality property portfolio, responsibilities will include:
- Managing and assisting with residential and commercial property transactions from end to end.
- Drafting and negotiating property-related agreements, commercial leasing, and deeds.
- Gaining exposure to subdivisions, property developments, and property financing.
- Developing specialist technical skills in Unit Titles, Cross Leases, and Body Corporate matters—areas where the firm is an established market leader.
- Conducting high-level, complex legal research and drafting pragmatic client advice.
- Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with clients through clear communication.
- Experience: 18 months+ PQE in either a dedicated property role or a General Practice role where a solid foundation in property files has been gained.
- The Desire to Specialise: A clear motivation to focus 100% of your career on property law (and leave general practice behind, if applicable).
- Technical Rigour: Strong legal research capabilities, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a client-centric approach.
- Team Fit: A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to absorb knowledge from senior mentors and collaborate with the wider junior team.
- Quality Work & Boutique Culture: Get the technical challenge and quality files within a friendly, supportive, and flexible boutique environment.
- Direct Partner Access: Work directly alongside leading practitioners who are recognised authorities in New Zealand property law.
- Structured Development: A clear, supported pathway designed to help build technical skills and transition seamlessly into complete autonomy on files.
