An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and motivated Network Architect to join the Global Architecture team based in Wellington leading on all Network Architecture activities for the APAC region.

As the Network Architect for APAC you have an excellent command of network design principles and a demonstrated ability to architect scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions that exceed business needs. Your role in FNZ will be to act as a trusted advisor to business units and a technical leader in evaluating and implementing new networking technologies. You will be an extremely effective communicator to all audiences and highly motivated to deliver meaningful and high-value improvements.

This role is highly suited to someone that is a self-starter, comfortable working autonomously and has a desire to grow within the role in the next 3-5 years.

The responsibilities will include:  

  • Define and evolve enterprise-wide network architecture, including standards, patterns, and processes

  • Lead Network Architecture Design Authority and contribute to strategic planning and governance

  • Collaborate with business units to ensure network requirements are embedded in all new systems and applications

  • Work alongside Network Engineering teams to trial and deploy infrastructure and tooling that meets FNZ business needs

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends, and recommend appropriate strategies for adoption

  • Align network architecture with broader infrastructure, security, identity, and application strategies

  • Support automation, observability, and telemetry integration across network platforms

  • Ensure designs meet performance, scalability, and security requirements across hybrid environments

What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate:

  • Previous experience working in a Network Architect role within Financial Services, Corporate or similar fast paced environment

  • Extensive experience designing and deploying network infrastructure across on-premise, hybrid, and public cloud environments

  • Proven ability to lead network transformation initiatives and build strong relationships across business and technical teams

  • Strong experience gathering requirements and translating them into scalable, secure, and cost-effective network solutions

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and articulate technical concepts clearly

  • Deep technical expertise in:

  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), traffic engineering, and EVPN

  • SD-WAN and SASE architectures

  • Network segmentation and VRF design

  • Overly and Fabric technologies (VXLAN, Megaport, Equinix Fabric)

  • F5 Distributed Cloud and traditional ADC platforms (F5 LTM/GTM) – highly desirable not a must

  • Firewall technologies (FortiGate, Check Point, NSX DFW)

  • Network virtualization (NSX-T), observability, and telemetry

  • Network automation and orchestration (e.g: Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines)

  • Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Network security design and zero-trust principles
