
Digital Content Lead

This is a unique opportunity to shape how BRANZ’s research, insights, and expertise connect with audiences across Aotearoa. The successful candidate will own the end-to-end digital content strategy and delivery, bringing complex technical knowledge to life through engaging, accessible, high-value digital experiences.
This role will also play a key part in growing the commercial value of BRANZ’s digital platforms, ensuring content supports sustainable revenue opportunities through audience growth and engagement.

About the Role
Reporting to the Content and Digital Engagement Team Leader, the Digital Content Lead is responsible for leading the strategy, design, and performance of BRANZ’s digital content ecosystem.
This is a hands-on leadership role (without direct reports), requiring strong collaboration, editorial judgement, and a high level of ownership.
Key responsibilities include:
Digital Content Strategy & Operations
- Defining and delivering a digital-first content strategy aligned with audience needs and BRANZ goals
- Leading content planning and pipeline management across digital platforms, with a focus on high-value, high-impact content
- Establishing and maintaining content governance, standards, and workflows that support scalable, sustainable growth
- Translating complex technical research into clear, engaging, and accessible content that drives audience engagement
- Applying UX writing and information architecture principles to enhance usability discoverability, and conversion
- Driving continuous improvement through content audits, insights, and best practice, including identifying opportunities for premium or gated content
- Growing audience reach, engagement, and content effectiveness across priority segments (e.g. builders and homeowners)
- Optimising content using SEO, analytics, and performance insights
- Supporting commercial outcomes by contributing to monetisation approaches such as subscriptions, gated content, and advertising
- Working cross-functionally with researchers, product owners, marketers, designers, and subject matter experts
- Building strong relationships and guiding stakeholders to deliver high-quality, user-centred content
- Championing a customer-first, data-informed and commercially aware approach to content
The ideal candidate will be a strategic and hands-on content professional, comfortable operating from high-level planning, through to execution with a strong digital background.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in digital content strategy, planning, editing, and publishing
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail
- The ability to translate complex or technical information into plain English
- A solid understanding of SEO, analytics, and performance optimisation
- Experience developing content that supports audience growth and retention, particularly across defined target segments
- An understanding of how content contributes to commercial outcomes
- Experience with CMS platforms (e.g. Silverstripe or similar)
