Requirements:
- This role follows a hybrid working model, requiring 2–3 days per week in the Cape Town office.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- Hands-on experience with multiple backend programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or Go, and/or modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable software systems.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Proficiency in software design patterns and architectural best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Nice to have:
- Experience in writing reports and delivering presentations to stakeholders and executives.
- Enthusiasm for staying hands-on with coding and technical problem solving.
- Active participation in the tech community through conferences, open source contributions, or publications.
- Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with product teams, designers, and other business units.
