Do you want to make a difference for disabled children as a Speech Language Therapist, working for the largest Independent Early Intervention Service Provider in New Zealand?

Our Early Intervention Service is expanding, so we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team at CCS Disability Action, where you can contribute to an organisation dedicated to creating positive change.

About the Role:

• Community based - supporting children who have high communication and eating/drinking support needs and their whānau/families
• Facilitate whānau/families getting early information, resources and support so that disabled children get the best start in life.
• Work in partnership with kaiako to support inclusion in Early Childhood Centres
• Work as an integral part of a transdisciplinary team with other specialists from agencies such as Child Development services, BLENNZ, Ko Taku Reo and Ministry of Education to develop and deliver individual plans, and ORS applications, contributing your knowledge about speech, language, communication and eating/drinking/swallowing.
• Support successful transitions to school until the end of Year 1

You must have:

• A passion for working with Tamariki hauā | disabled children.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech-Language Therapy, or an equivalent that meets the requirements of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists Association
• Eligibility for membership of NZSTA
• Undergraduate paediatric dysphagia training
• Experience in an interdisciplinary team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to establish effective relationships with whānau/families, early childhood facilities and other agencies.
• Strong time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills.
• Full New Zealand driver's license.

Desirable but not essential:

• Experience working with preschool children in an Early Learning environment
• Experience with the implementation of Augmentative/Alternative Communication Systems
• Communication Assistive Technology (CAT-1) accreditation
• Post qualification paediatric dysphagia experience
• Knowledge of Te Whāriki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum
