Motor Mechanic
MR Classic Restorations is a specialist automotive workshop based in Moorabbin, Victoria, dedicated to the restoration, servicing and mechanical rebuilding of classic, vintage and performance vehicles. We pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail and delivering high-quality restoration projects for our clients. Our workshop undertakes complete vehicle restorations, mechanical repairs, engine rebuilds and ongoing maintenance for a wide range of classic vehicles.
Position:
We are seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join our growing team in Moorabbin. This is a full-time permanent position suited to someone passionate about classic vehicles and automotive restoration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical faults using specialised diagnostic equipment and manual testing techniques.
- Perform servicing, repairs and maintenance on petrol and diesel vehicles, including classic and restored vehicles.
- Remove, dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble engines, transmissions, differentials, steering, suspension and braking systems.
- Carry out engine rebuilds and mechanical restoration work to manufacturer and workshop specifications.
- Repair and replace worn or defective mechanical components, ensuring reliability and safety.
- Conduct road tests and quality inspections following repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records and communicate repair recommendations to management.
- Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Relevant trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of engine diagnostics and mechanical repair techniques.
- Experience with manual transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems.
- Ability to interpret workshop manuals and technical drawings.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience working on classic, vintage or performance vehicles.
- Experience with engine rebuilding and restoration projects.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
