We're looking for an experienced and motivated Drainlayer to join our Invercargill team, working on our long-term maintenance contract with Invercargill City Council. This is a hands-on role where you'll play a key part in delivering drainage maintenance and project works safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You'll be responsible for coordinating day-to-day site activities, supporting and guiding crew members, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with project specifications and performance targets. From organising resources and allocating tasks to operating plant and assisting with on-site work, you'll help drive successful outcomes across a variety of drainage projects.
Working closely with Contract Engineers, Project Managers, Supervisors, subcontractors and clients, you'll help maintain strong working relationships while ensuring customer expectations are met. You'll also assist with coaching and developing crew members, sharing your knowledge and helping build capability across the team.

Mōu koe | About You
You will bring:
- Certified Drainlayer qualification
- Proven experience in drain laying activities and drainage maintenance works
- Experience supervising drainage projects or leading small crews in the field
- Full Class 1 driver licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices and a commitment to Zero Harm principles
- Experience operating plant and equipment within civil or drainage environments
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A customer-focused approach with strong commercial awareness on site
- The ability to coach, mentor and support the development of team members
- Knowledge of environmental protection and sustainable work practices
The following would be advantageous:
- Class 2 driver licence with W, T and R endorsements
- Level 3 or higher Water Reticulation qualification
You're a reliable and practical team player who leads by example. You communicate well, take pride in quality workmanship and enjoy working collaboratively to deliver great outcomes for customers, colleagues and the wider community.
