Director – Client Onboarding Compliance (Reputable Private Bank)
We are partnering with a prestigious private bank in Singapore and they are seeking a Director, Client Onboarding Compliance to be part of their compliance team. You should have at least 10+ years of AML/ KYC Compliance advisory experience (gained from Private Banking Compliance space). To succeed in this role, you should have excellent writing and communication skills and able to handle complex accounts and structures across Southeast Asia, Greater China and etc.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Evaluate Source of Wealth (SoW) and Source of Funds (SoF) plausibility for complex wealth generation stories, high-risk sectors, and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).
- Make firm, risk-based decisions on complex cases—balancing regulatory expectations, commercial realities, and the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Maintain an up-to-date, sharp understanding of regional regulatory nuances across Singapore (MAS guidelines), Greater China, and broader Asia-Pacific jurisdictions, aligning them seamlessly with European Group policies.
- Support key governance forums including case escalations and documentation
- Drive KYC-related projects, remediation initiatives, and system enhancements across the regions
- Prepare management reporting on KYC metrics, risk trends, and regulatory matters
- Support regulatory change, gap analysis, and training initiatives
Requirements of the role:
- Minimum 10+ years of direct AML, KYC, and Financial Crime Compliance experience within Private Banking or Wealth Management, with a preference for candidate background rooted in Compliance Functions
- Strong knowledge of Singapore regulatory frameworks (Banking Act, SFA, FAA)
- Proven experience handling high-risk clients, PEPs, and complex structures
- Strong stakeholder management, analytical, and communication skills
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex compliance rationale to senior business heads and global stakeholders.
