Job Description

Collateral Operations is seeking an experienced and dynamic team player to support the Global Markets business across Asia Pacific. The team is responsible for managing collateral and margin obligations that mitigate counterparty credit risk arising from a diverse range of products, including OTC Derivatives, Fixed Income, Exchange Traded Derivatives (ETD), and Prime Finance.
The successful candidate will be accountable for driving and enabling business and client initiatives, end-to-end collateral management process, ensuring margin calls are accurately calculated, issued, agreed, and settled within established deadlines and control frameworks. In addition to maintaining robust risk and control standards, the role will provide strategic leadership across business-as-usual operations, client service, regulatory initiatives, and transformation programs.
This individual will work with a team of collateral professionals, partner closely with Front Office, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Operations stakeholders, and drive operational excellence through process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and the ability to navigate complex issues while ensuring the firm remains appropriately collateralized and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive business and client enablement, strategic initiatives focused on process optimization, automation, operational resilience, and risk reduction.
  • Work with a team responsible for daily collateral management activities across OTC Derivatives, Fixed Income, ETD, and Prime Finance products.
  • Key activities include
  • Ensure timely and accurate issuance, agreement and settlement of margin calls.
  • Oversee client and affiliate exposure monitoring to ensure appropriate collateralization and adherence to settlement deadlines.
  • Manage complex margin disputes, settlement exceptions, and operational incidents, ensuring timely escalation, resolution, and root cause remediation.
  • Deliver accurate management information and reporting to support business, risk, and operational decision-making.
  • Partner with Technology teams to define and implement system enhancements that improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Front Office, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Technology, and Operations.
  • Act as a key escalation point for clients and internal partners, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and risk reviews, ensuring a strong governance and control environment.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the team.
  • Lead change management initiatives and contribute to the broader strategic agenda of the Collateral Operations organization.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Collateral Management, or related Markets Operations functions within a global financial institution.
  • Strong product knowledge across one or more asset classes including OTC Derivatives, Fixed Income, Exchange Traded Derivatives, and Prime Finance.
  • Proven people leadership experience with the ability to develop talent, drive performance, and lead through change.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build effective partnerships with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including senior management.
  • Strong risk and control mindset with experience managing operational risk, regulatory requirements, and audit deliverables.
  • Proven track record of leading operational improvement, transformation, or technology-driven change initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a demonstrated ability to challenge existing processes and continuously improve efficiency and client outcomes.
