Description of the role
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of a client portfolio and support both compliance and advisory work within our Auckland BAS team.
This is a role designed for someone who wants to take the next step — not stay static. You’ll play a key role in supporting team delivery, improving workflow efficiency, and helping lift capability across the team.
You’ll also be expected to step confidently into a client-facing role, working alongside Managers and Partners to deliver quality outcomes.
What makes you ‘just right’
- Strong grounding in compliance (financial statements and tax)
- 4+ years’ experience in a Chartered Accounting or Business Advisory environment
- CA qualified (or equivalent)
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and prioritize effectively
- Confidence reviewing work and supporting junior team members
- Comfortable engaging with clients and contributing to discussions beyond compliance
- Interest in technology and tools (including AI) to improve efficiency
- A mindset focused on growth, ownership, and continuous improvement
What your day might look like
- Manage a client portfolio, including delegation and review of junior work
- Deliver compliance work efficiently and accurately (financial statements, tax returns, GST)
- Communicate directly with clients and build trusted relationships
- Contribute to advisory conversations, supporting business improvement and growth
- Work alongside Managers and Partners on more complex engagements
- Support team workflow, helping improve turnaround times and delivery standards
- Coach and develop junior team members
