Description of the role
We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of a client portfolio and support both compliance and advisory work within our Auckland BAS team.

This is a role designed for someone who wants to take the next step — not stay static. You’ll play a key role in supporting team delivery, improving workflow efficiency, and helping lift capability across the team.

You’ll also be expected to step confidently into a client-facing role, working alongside Managers and Partners to deliver quality outcomes.

What makes you ‘just right’

  • Strong grounding in compliance (financial statements and tax)
  • 4+ years’ experience in a Chartered Accounting or Business Advisory environment
  • CA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and prioritize effectively
  • Confidence reviewing work and supporting junior team members
  • Comfortable engaging with clients and contributing to discussions beyond compliance
  • Interest in technology and tools (including AI) to improve efficiency
  • A mindset focused on growth, ownership, and continuous improvement

What your day might look like

  • Manage a client portfolio, including delegation and review of junior work
  • Deliver compliance work efficiently and accurately (financial statements, tax returns, GST)
  • Communicate directly with clients and build trusted relationships
  • Contribute to advisory conversations, supporting business improvement and growth
  • Work alongside Managers and Partners on more complex engagements
  • Support team workflow, helping improve turnaround times and delivery standards
  • Coach and develop junior team members
