About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi
This is a newly established enterprise leadership role, created through our Technology & Data redesign. Reporting to the DCE Technology & Data, the Head of Data will lead ACC’s enterprise data function across data governance, data science, engineering, business intelligence, and data quality.
You will set the direction for how data is managed, governed, and leveraged as a strategic asset across the organisation. This means shaping enterprise data strategy, building AI-ready data capabilities and solutions, and ensuring our data practices support equitable outcomes for all communities and an efficient sustainable scheme.
This role offers a genuine opportunity to build something that matters at scale. You will influence how ACC uses data and insights to improve organisational performance, strengthen decision making, and contribute to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
What you'll lead
- Development and execution of ACC's enterprise data strategy, aligned to organisational priorities and the ACC Strategy
- Enterprise data governance, stewardship, quality, compliance, and information management frameworks
- Data science, engineering, and advanced analytics capability including the application of machine learning and AI
- Cross-sector and all-of-government data initiatives, partnerships, and standards
- Embed data-driven thinking and decision making across a large, complex organisation
- Responsible and ethical use of data as AI and advanced technologies expand
The appointing salary for this role is $189,346 - $245,036 based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.
About you | Mōu
You will bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in information management, data, technology, business, health, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications are desirable.
- Senior leadership experience in enterprise data, information management, analytics or related functions within a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise data strategy that delivers measurable business outcomes.
- Experience establishing enterprise-wide governance, stewardship, compliance and information management frameworks.
- Proven capability leading data science, advanced analytics, machine learning and AI-enabled teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence executive leaders, governance forums and senior decision makers.
- A collaborative and empowering leadership style with the ability to build high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking and change leadership skills.
- Experience in health, social sector, insurance or another highly regulated environment would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of all-of-government data approaches and cross-agency data practices.
- A satisfactory credit history as a credit check will be conducted for this role.
- You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
