Karntek is seeking a Fire Door Inspector to join our growing team of fire safety professionals.

Working across a diverse portfolio of residential and educational buildings, you will carry out fire door inspections and compartmentation surveys that help clients improve compliance, reduce risk, and enhance the safety of their buildings.

The Role

As a Fire Door Inspector, you will be at the forefront of passive fire protection assessments, working independently and as part of a highly experienced team to identify risks, assess compliance, and contribute to safer built environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out fire door inspections, compartmentation surveys, and other fire safety assessments across residential and educational premises throughout London and the Southeast.
  • Review and interpret fire strategies to assess compliance and support informed decision-making.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, clients, and site teams while conducting surveys on-site.
  • Identify breaches in fire compartmentation, including fire doors and other passive fire protection measures.
  • Assess existing fire safety provisions and provide clear, practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Produce professional, accurate, and easy-to-understand reports detailing findings and recommended actions.
  • Stay up to date with evolving fire safety legislation, guidance, and industry best practice.

About You

You are detail-oriented, professional, and passionate about improving fire safety. You enjoy working independently, communicating with clients and residents, and taking ownership of your work. Most importantly, you understand the vital role that passive fire protection plays in protecting lives and property.

Relevant experience in fire safety, building surveying, passive fire protection, or a related field.

  • Proven experience conducting fire door inspections, compartmentation surveys, or similar fire safety assessments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively in a remote, field-based role.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Central and Greater London, with occasional travel to client sites further afield.
  • Ability to attend Karntek's Stafford head office periodically as required.
  • Flexibility to stay away overnight when projects require travel of more than 1.5 hours from home.
  • Full UK driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
  • Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check (arranged by Karntek).

Desirable

  • FDIS qualification or fire door inspection training.
  • CSCS Card.
