AI Lead
We’re seeking a driven AI Lead to take ownership of AI across one of the fastest-growing legal tech companies in Europe, leading the development and evolution of our core AI products.
This role combines applied generative AI development with AI leadership, balancing hands-on work on production systems with leading the AI team, defining the roadmap, and establishing best practices for AI across the company.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for the entire AI function: setting direction, building systems, and enabling the organization to effectively leverage AI. You will work closely with product and engineering leadership to deliver reliable AI features while continuously improving infrastructure, observability, and evaluation workflows across all AI products.
For a leader with strong experience building and deploying AI systems in production, this is an opportunity to own multiple AI products, scale a high-performing AI team, and shape how AI is applied across the company.
Your Challenge and Opportunity in This Role
You will define how AI is built, shipped, and scaled at JUPUS. As AI Lead, you are responsible for both strategic direction and execution, ensuring that AI systems across voice, chat, and document processing deliver real value to users.
You will lead the development and evolution of Phonebot, Chatbot, and Document AI, while establishing the technical and organizational foundations needed to scale AI across the company.
Expect strong ownership, fast iteration, and pragmatic decision-making, with a clear focus on building reliable, production-ready systems that improve productivity for law firms.
Tasks
AI Strategy, Leadership & Implementation:
Define and execute the AI roadmap across all AI products
Lead, mentor, and grow the AI team, fostering a high-performance, execution-focused culture
Architect and implement production-ready generative AI systems across voice, chat, and document workflows
Contribute hands-on (≈40%) to core AI systems, including architecture, implementation, and optimization
Design and oversee agentic workflows, RAG systems, and LLM-based architectures across products
Establish and scale evaluation, testing, and observability frameworks for AI systems
Define and enforce best practices for AI development, deployment, and iteration
Ensure reliable delivery and fast iteration within a small, high-impact team
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Partner closely with product, design, and engineering teams to integrate AI into real product workflows
Translate complex AI capabilities into clear, practical product features
Act as the AI authority within the company, supporting teams in adopting and applying AI effectively
Communicate AI strategy and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements:
5–6 years of experience building and shipping applied AI systems in production
Proven hands-on experience with agentic AI systems and/or RAG in production (beyond simple API usage)
Strong proficiency in Python and backend development for AI-driven products
Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring AI engineers, including setting technical direction and raising team standards
Track record of owning and delivering AI features end-to-end in a product environment
Experience with LLM evaluation, monitoring, and observability (e.g. LangSmith, Langfuse, or similar)
Ability to balance hands-on work with technical leadership in a fast-paced environment
Strong product mindset and ability to translate AI capabilities into real user value
Fluent in English
Must be located within the CET -2/+2 time zone
Nice to Have:
Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or custom agent frameworks
Familiarity with Django or similar
Understanding of LLM architectures or deep learning fundamentals
