Chef
MAX's Cafe & Restaurant Foster Wilsons Prom is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our growing team in regional Victoria. This is a full-time permanent position offering an excellent opportunity to work in a busy restaurant committed to delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals in accordance with the restaurant's menu and quality standards.
- Plan menus in consultation with management, including seasonal specials.
- Estimate food and labour costs and assist with kitchen budgeting.
- Order, receive and manage food supplies while maintaining stock levels.
- Monitor food quality throughout preparation and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Supervise, train and mentor kitchen staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen.
- Minimise food waste and contribute to efficient kitchen operations.
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure excellent customer service.
Essential Requirements
- AQF Certificate IV, Diploma or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent; or
- At least three years of relevant full-time Chef experience.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
Desirable
- Experience working in a café/restaurant environment.
- Menu development and cost control experience.
- Leadership and team management skills.
