The Role 

Regional Coordinator  will report to the State Program Lead, Bihar and work with the state team. You will represent our technical assistance to Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (IFA ) and National Deworming Day (NDD) programs at the divisional/district level. You will provide technical assistance to strengthen the implementation of the state’s Anemia Mukt Bharat initiative following government guidelines.

We supports the IFA supplementation programme (6 months to 19 years) in all 38 districts of Bihar. You will oversee program activities across three to four districts, ensuring that interventions are carried out effectively and smoothly.

Responsibilities 

Advocacy

• Serve as the primary liaison for divisional, district, and block officials, fostering robust collaborative relationships with senior administrators in Health, Education, ICDS, and other sectors, following the directives from the state office.
• Represent Evidence Action in divisional review meetings (where held), District Coordination Committee meetings, District Health Society meetings for AMB, and other district/block-level forums of Health, ICDS, and Education. Ensure such meetings are convened and used to address challenges and plan for successful outcomes.
• Advocate for expansion of the IFA program in assigned districts and blocks.
• Work with district health officials to ensure inclusion of budgets and IEC strategies in annual NHM Program Implementation Plans (PIPs).
• Engage with representatives of development partners and stakeholders at district and block levels, as guided by the state team.
• Provide support to the Department of Health and Education on other school health programs, as guided by the state team.

Program Implementation

• Coordinate with the state team, including the tele-calling unit, to address the needs of assigned districts.
• Travel approximately 15 days per month within assigned districts to provide on-site support following organizational guidelines.
• Coordinate drug need assessments with Health departments and ensure requisition and distribution of IFA supplies, monitoring the supply chain up to the last mile.
• Facilitate the rollout of the IFA training cascade (6 months–19 years) at district and block levels. Monitor sessions and identify opportunities to orient and sensitize officials and staff from relevant departments on IFA benefits.
• Work with districts to plan and execute IEC activities within the assigned budgets, ensuring the inclusion of standard IFA messages.
• Support process monitoring through training observations and field visits to schools, Anganwadi centers, and communities. Share observations with district officials (e.g., District Magistrate/ Civil Surgeon/DIOs) for corrective actions.
• Oversee short-term consultants (resource persons) engaged in monitoring ASHA facilitators to improve IFA syrup coverage among under-5 children, and support the transition of these responsibilities to Community Health Officers (CHOs).
• Ensure submission of monthly reports and HMIS data by coordinating with block and district officials. Share daily status updates with the state team and document program progress, success stories, and lessons learned.
• Assist district and block officials in preparing presentations and analyzing program data to inform decision-making and reviews.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly district-specific action plans based on field visits and data review, highlighting bottlenecks and important actions with the State Program Lead.
• Perform all responsibilities as assigned by the State Program Lead, coordinate with colleagues, and support other program staff.

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Public Health, Nutrition, Social Work, Management, or a related field, along with 4–5 years of experience in the development sector
• Experience directly implementing programs in public health or nutrition (such as maternal and child health, micronutrient supplementation, or school health programs) is preferred.
• Experience coordinating government health program at the district and sub-district levels in Bihar, with engagement of government officials. Experience working with district Magistrates and other district-level officers is important.
• Communication skills in Hindi for daily work and in English for reporting and documentation, including the ability to prepare clear reports, presentations, and email correspondence. Having knowledge of local languages or dialects is an advantage.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, forms, etc.), for data management and reporting tasks. Ability to Examine and evaluate program data (e.g., coverage, attendance) and use insights for improvements.
• Willingness to travel approximately 70 % of the time within assigned districts and across the state. Must have a valid two-wheeler or four-wheeler driving license and preferably access to a personal vehicle for field travel
• Independent work capability while being a collaborative team player, with problem-solving skills and commitment to improving health and nutrition outcomes for children and communities

Position Location - This role will be based in Saharsa, Bihar and will cover three districts: Saharsa, Supaul, and Madhepura. Additionally, you may be required to work from the Divisional Headquarters (HQ) as and when necessary.

Engagement: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting three years, ending in May 2029.
