At OQC, we aren’t just theorising about the future; we’re building it. Born from a philosophy of bold innovation, we’ve successfully transitioned quantum computing from an academic dream into a commercial reality.

The most exciting thing is that we’re just getting started and we’ve recently closed our £260 million Series C funding round – the largest fundraise ever completed by a quantum computing company in Europe.

The Purpose

As VP of Product Development, you will lead OQC's Product Development function, transforming validated customer needs, cutting-edge research and emerging market opportunities into scalable, commercially successful products.

You'll shape how our product portfolio evolves, ensuring every investment delivers long-term customer value and supports OQC's ambitious growth strategy.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you'll define and execute the Product Development strategy, building the governance, operating models and organisational capability needed to deliver repeatable, market-leading products. Working closely with Research, Engineering, Client Solutions and Commercial teams, you'll bridge innovation and execution to accelerate the commercialisation of quantum technologies.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Define and execute OQC's Product Development strategy, ensuring alignment with company vision, commercial objectives and long-term growth.
  • Own the Product Development roadmap and portfolio, making strategic investment, prioritisation and lifecycle decisions that maximise customer and business value.
  • Partner with Research, Engineering and Architecture to transform breakthrough innovation into scalable, commercially deployable products.
  • Collaborate with Product Discovery, Product Strategy and Client Solutions teams to identify opportunities to convert bespoke customer solutions into repeatable products and services.
  • Establish world-class product development governance, delivery frameworks and performance metrics that enable predictable execution and informed investment decisions.
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing global Product Development organisation, driving capability growth, leadership development and organisational excellence.
  • Represent OQC's product vision with executive stakeholders, customers, partners and investors while championing collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement across the business.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience developing and executing Product Development or Product Portfolio strategies within complex technology organisations (this is a 1-to-N type growth role)
  • Proven track record of transforming customer requirements, research outcomes or emerging technologies into scalable commercial products.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary Product Development, Product Management or equivalent technical organisations.
  • Strong background partnering with Research, Engineering and technical leadership to deliver commercially viable products.
  • Demonstrated success influencing executive investment decisions and balancing commercial opportunity, customer value and technical feasibility.
  • Experience establishing product governance, operating models and product management frameworks at scale.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including portfolio management, budgeting, investment prioritisation and strategic planning.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and commercial audiences.
  • Experience building high-performing teams through recruitment, coaching, succession planning and organisational development.

The 'Nice-to-Haves'

  • Experience in quantum computing, advanced computing or other deep technology sectors.
  • Experience managing enterprise technology product portfolios.
  • Experience working across international organisations and distributed teams.
  • Experience engaging with executive customers, investors or strategic technology partners.
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Business or a related discipline.
  • MBA, postgraduate qualification, Product Management certification or Agile certification.

Why Join OQC

You will join a world-class team at the forefront of the next computational era. We offer a culture of bold innovation, the chance to work with unique lab infrastructure, and the opportunity to see your work redefine the limits of computation.
