About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Privacy Specialist to join our Data & Analytics team. In the role, the successful candidate will:

Privacy by Design & Default

  • Embed Privacy by Design & Default principles into change, transformation, digital, data, and AI initiatives.
  • Partner with Business Leads, Process Owners, Product Owners, Technology and Data teams to identify and manage privacy risks from inception through implementation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing practical and commercially balanced guidance on privacy obligations and risk management.
  • Support project teams in designing and implementing privacy-compliant processes, systems, and controls

Privacy Risk Assessment & Governance

  • Lead and facilitate Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and other privacy risk assessments where required.
  • Identify privacy and data protection risks and work with stakeholders to develop appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Ensure privacy risks, decisions, and mitigation actions are appropriately documented, approved, tracked, and implemented prior to go-live.
  • Support procurement and vendor due diligence activities by assessing privacy and data protection risks associated with new suppliers, technology platforms, and AI solutions
  • Support the maintenance and governance of Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs).
  • Escalate significant privacy risks through appropriate governance and risk management forums.

AI & Emerging Technologies

  • Provide privacy guidance on AI ensuring compliance with the GDPR
  • Support the implementation of AI governance and risk management frameworks in line with the EU AI Act.
  • Review AI use cases involving personal data and contribute to relevant risk assessments and governance processes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Culture

  • Develop strong working relationships across the organisation to promote privacy awareness and accountability.
  • Promote a culture, where privacy, client trust, ethical data use, and responsible innovation are embedded into decision-making.
  • Deliver targeted privacy training and educational initiatives for colleagues involved in transformation, technology, data, and AI programmes.
  • Maintain currency with Privacy and AI regulations and technological advancements 

About You

We are looking for someone with the following background and skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the GDPR and broader privacy regulatory requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in privacy, data protection, data governance, compliance, risk, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience embedding the GDPR and Privacy by Design & Default principles within business processes, technology solutions, and transformation programmes.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment, ideally Financial Services, Wealth Management, Banking, or Asset Management.
  • Demonstrable understanding of AI risk management, and the EU AI Act.
  • Ability to assess technical and operational controls and translate regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts clearly to non-specialists.
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to influence outcomes and challenge constructively where necessary.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and capable of working independently and managing ambiguity in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Professional privacy certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, AIGP, or equivalent is advantageous
