Join Our Team

We're looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Technician to join our team in Tonbridge.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day maintenance of our site, including our office, manufacturing, sustainability, and warehouse areas. You'll carry out reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), equipment inspections, and general site improvements while helping to keep our facilities safe, reliable, and running efficiently.

If you have experience in maintenance, engineering, or facilities and enjoy solving problems and working as part of a team, we'd love to hear from you.

Job Purpose

To support the Facilities function by maintaining, improving, and developing the site infrastructure, equipment, and facilities across the Tonbridge site, including office, manufacturing, sustainability, and warehouse environments.

The Facilities & Maintenance Technician will play an important role in developing a proactive maintenance culture by completing reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), equipment inspections, and improvement works.

The successful candidate will initially support day-to-day maintenance requirements while developing the skills, knowledge, and experience required to take increasing ownership of the site maintenance programme.

A key part of the role will be developing and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation, including preventative maintenance schedules, inspection records, procedures, and asset information, ensuring the business has a reliable, effective, and auditable maintenance system.

The long-term objective of the role is to develop a comprehensive preventative maintenance programme, improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and minimising unnecessary reliance on external contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive maintenance activities across the site, diagnosing faults and completing repairs where appropriate.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and fit for purpose.
  • Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions before breakdowns occur.
  • Carry out general building fabric maintenance, including carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, and minor electrical works within competency.
  • Support installation, modification, and improvement works across the site.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.

Planned Preventative Maintenance & Compliance

  • Complete routine equipment inspections and maintenance checks in line with company procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Support compliance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) through inspections, defect identification, and accurate record keeping.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules within the CMMS.
  • Create, review, and update maintenance documentation, including:
    • Service schedules
    • Inspection checklists
    • Maintenance procedures
    • Asset records
    • Risk assessments and supporting documentation where required
  • Ensure completed works, inspections, and findings are accurately recorded.

Contractor Management

  • Support the Facilities Manager with the coordination and supervision of external contractors.
  • Ensure contractors complete work safely and in accordance with site requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing contractor requirements and identifying opportunities where work can be completed internally.
  • Help reduce unnecessary contractor call-outs through effective fault finding and internal repair capability.

Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Support facilities improvement projects and site developments.
  • Build a detailed understanding of site assets and their maintenance requirements.
  • Develop ownership of assigned equipment and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Contribute ideas and practical solutions to improve maintenance processes.

Essential Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines:

    • Mechanical maintenance
    • Plumbing

  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and manage competing tasks.
  • Good problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Computer literate with confidence using digital systems.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, including:
    • Google Docs
    • Google Sheets
    • Google Drive
    • Gmail
  • Willingness and ability to create, review, edit, and maintain technical documentation and records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
  • Experience developing planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Experience creating maintenance procedures, inspection checklists, or service documentation.
  • Knowledge of PUWER requirements and equipment inspections.
