
Software Engineer - Java backend

To contribute hands‑on technical expertise to deliver high‑quality, resilient digital solutions, working collaboratively within a squad to build modern software, reduce technical debt, and continuously improve ways of working.
As a Software Engineer in the Digital team, you will make a strong contribution within your squad. You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders around the bank to ensure we:
- Deliver amazing new digital experiences for our customers
- Build in-line with industry best practice
- Comply with our standards and policies
- Avoid technical debt
- Support and role model agreed work practices
- Contribute to sprint goals that align with delivery, customer, and strategic objectives
This role is primarily focused on hands-on engineering, collaboration, and technical excellence. You will contribute to shaping the technical direction of your squad and support continuous improvement initiatives.

- 3+ years of experience in software engineering
- Strong experience in one or more of Java, React, or Mobile development
- Experience working in Agile teams with DevOps responsibilities
- Exposure to mentoring and knowledge sharing within teams
- Institutional banking experience is a plus
