Designer Group is seeking Graduate Mechanical Engineers to join our growing teams, with multiple positions available for immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent Mechanical Engineering graduates who want to build a career with a leading international mechanical and electrical contractor. You will gain hands-on experience across live projects, working alongside experienced engineers, project teams, commercial teams and site leadership.

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will support the delivery of mechanical building services across a range of projects, which may include commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, data centre, residential, energy and infrastructure environments. You will be exposed to both office-based and site-based work, giving you a strong practical understanding of how mechanical systems are designed, coordinated, installed, tested and commissioned.

Designer Group’s graduate programme is designed to support early-career professionals through practical project experience, mentoring, structured development and exposure to major engineering projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe. The existing graduate programme is positioned as a two-year programme providing hands-on experience across core teams and project environments.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting project teams with the delivery of mechanical services from early-stage planning through to installation, testing and commissioning.
  • Assisting with technical reviews, drawings, specifications, submittals and project documentation.
  • Working with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and site teams to support safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Supporting quality, safety and compliance requirements across mechanical works.
  • Assisting with progress tracking, reporting, materials coordination and issue resolution.
  • Developing practical knowledge of M&E contracting, construction sequencing, programme requirements and client expectations.
  • Building your technical understanding of mechanical systems, site coordination, project delivery and engineering best practice.
  • Participating in training, mentoring and continuous professional development as part of your graduate journey.

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in mechanical building services, M&E contracting and construction project delivery.
  • Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and take direction from experienced engineers and project leaders.
  • Proactive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable working in both office and site-based environments.
  • Available to start immediately or at short notice.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Previous placement, internship or site experience within construction, M&E, building services, utilities, energy, pharma, commercial or data centre environments.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, schematics, technical specifications or construction documentation.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Microsoft Project, Excel or other engineering/project tools.
  • Interest in progressing toward professional development, CPD and chartership.
