As a Fuel Retail & Convenience Store Operations Transformation Lead, you will play a pivotal role in helping clients design and deliver technology-enabled transformation across fuel retail, travel centre, convenience and mobility operations. This is a consulting delivery role requiring deep store operations knowledge, strong programme leadership, product ownership capability and the ability to bridge business, technology, vendors and delivery teams. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to::

  • Shaping fuel retail and convenience store operations transformation roadmaps, from discovery and design through to delivery, deployment, hypercare and operational handover.
  • Leading the delivery of store execution, workforce management, operational monitoring, front office, back office and related retail technology capabilities.
  • Owning or supporting product vision, roadmap definition, backlog prioritisation, sprint planning, PI planning and delivery governance to ensure business value is realised.
  • Managing complex delivery across client teams, technology vendors, systems integrators and offshore delivery teams, creating a clear one-team operating model.
  • Supporting upgrades, migrations and implementations of enterprise retail platforms, including SaaS and cloud-enabled solutions.
  • Designing and delivering integrated data, reporting, ETL, API, operational dashboard and service monitoring capabilities across retail operations.
  • Leading requirements workshops, solution design reviews, governance forums and senior stakeholder updates.
  • Driving delivery quality, risk management, issue resolution, service transition, training, documentation and early-life support.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve operational control, enhance customer and colleague experience and increase scalability across multi-site retail environments.

We are looking for a senior retail consulting practitioner with strong fuel retail, convenience store operations and technology transformation experience, including:

  • Proven experience delivering complex technology transformation programmes in fuel retail, convenience retail, mobility, downstream energy, travel centre or comparable multi-site retail operations.
  • Practical knowledge of retail store operations processes, including store execution, workforce management, task management, store communications, compliance tracking, reservations, payments, reporting and operational monitoring.
  • Experience implementing, upgrading or migrating enterprise retail platforms, ideally including Blue Yonder, Luminate Store Execution, Reflexis or equivalent store operations solutions.
  • Strong programme delivery, product ownership, delivery management, business analysis or technical delivery leadership experience.
  • Experience across the full delivery lifecycle, including discovery, design, build, test, go-live, hypercare and transition to operations.
  • Ability to manage budgets, forecasts, delivery plans, risks, dependencies, executive stakeholders and third-party suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms, integration architecture, ETL, APIs, data migration, data governance, reporting and operational control tower capabilities.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, retrospectives, PI planning and delivery governance.
  • Ability to combine consulting presence with practical delivery leadership in complex client environments.

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • Able to lead global and virtual teams to implement retail technology transformation programmes in live operational environments.
  • Comfortable engaging senior business and technology stakeholders, shaping decisions and maintaining delivery confidence under pressure.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to translate operational requirements into clear technology and delivery outcomes.
  • Able to assess existing ecosystems, identify delivery risks and recommend pragmatic improvements to operational efficiency and platform resilience.
  • A self-starter who can lead workshops, work in a matrix team structure and assume client-facing delivery leadership roles.
  • Commercially aware and able to link transformation activity to operational efficiency, scalability, customer experience and business value.
