Senior Software Architect
See what you can do with Prophix
At Prophix, we’re building the platform that helps finance teams stop managing spreadsheets and start driving strategy. Prophix One™ brings planning, reporting, consolidation, and automation together in a single place, and we are expanding its AI capabilities faster than ever. If you want to work on a product that genuinely changes how finance teams operate, and do it alongside people who care about getting it right, this is where you want to be.
We’re headquartered in the Greater Toronto Area, with teams and offices across North America, Europe, and Australia. Trusted by more than 3,000 finance teams across 100+ countries, Prophix One™ is built for organisations that want to plan smarter and move faster.
As a Sr. Software Architect at Prophix, you will play a central role in shaping the cloud and SaaS technology foundation that powers our next generation of financial performance management solutions. Working alongside a talented group of engineers, domain experts, and fellow architects, you will drive the technical decisions that determine how our platform evolves — from modernizing legacy systems to designing secure, scalable cloud-native architectures. Your work will have a direct and lasting impact on both the developer experience and the outcomes Prophix delivers to its customers.
What You Will Do
- Lead the evaluation and selection of technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns that position Prophix's platform to meet future business and customer needs at scale.
- Shape the evolution of Prophix's cloud-based software platform by designing robust, secure, and scalable solutions — from initial concept and rapid prototyping through to production-ready delivery.
- Partner with business units across the company to provide strategic guidance on technology choices, helping leaders navigate the intersection of technical capability and business value.
- Design and prototype solutions across multiple tech stacks, leveraging AI coding tools such as Claude Code to accelerate development end-to-end and critically evaluate AI-generated output.
- Collaborate closely with other Architects and engineering teams on major architecture initiatives, including the review of functional and technical requirements, design decisions, and implementation standards.
- Contribute to cross-functional agile teams to deliver new applications, features, and enhancements that improve the user experience, applying deep software engineering discipline and industry best practices.
- Mentor engineers across the team — leading by example, conducting code reviews, and building a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Advise on and participate in technical interviews for senior developer hires, bringing rigorous assessment skills to help Prophix maintain a high hiring bar.
What You Will Bring
We hire for potential as much as experience. If this role excites you but you don’t check every box, we still want to hear from you. At Prophix, people who ask good questions, adapt quickly, and bring a fresh perspective often make the biggest impact.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a significant portion spent in a software architecture or principal engineer role within a SaaS or cloud-native product environment.
- Proven track record of translating complex business requirements into clear, effective software architecture — particularly for multi-tenant SaaS offerings.
- Solid understanding of inter-process communication, microservices design, and distributed infrastructure at scale.
- Extensive experience designing, developing, and deploying secure cloud-native software, including strong familiarity with Infrastructure as Code practices and tools such as Terraform.
- Strong proficiency in database management and optimization, with demonstrated experience leading migrations from legacy systems to modern, cloud-based databases.
- Working knowledge of backend technologies (e.g., .NET) and front-end technologies (e.g., Angular) deep enough to direct, evaluate, and provide meaningful feedback on AI-generated code.
- Proficiency with AI coding assistants and agentic development tools such as Claude Code, with demonstrated ability to guide development from concept through PoC to production.
- Proficiency in both Windows and Linux environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied to cloud-native and distributed systems.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to audiences of varying experience levels and to translate architectural decisions into accessible documentation.
- Prior leadership experience that includes team management, code review processes, and technical mentorship of junior and intermediate developers.
- Right to work in Canada and able to work from our Etobicoke, Ontario office.
- Must be legally entitled to work in the country where this role is located
- Comfortable using AI tools responsibly to support tasks such as research, drafting, and data review
- Able to learn new tools and adapt as technology and workflows evolve.
- Curious, open to new approaches, and motivated to continuously improve.
- Collaborative mindset when working across teams and with AI supported tooling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or evolving an internal AI/agent platform, including LLM tool-calling, agent orchestration frameworks, and MCP or comparable protocols.
- Experience with identity and access management at a platform level, including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, and multi-tenant authorization models.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based deployment models and multi-environment or multi-region orchestration.
- Background in financial software, ERP, or CPM/EPM platforms, with an understanding of the domain complexity these systems carry.
- Experience influencing architecture within a company undergoing active product-portfolio consolidation or M&A-driven platform convergence.
What Success Looks Like
- 30 days: You know our platform, our customers, and how your team operates. You’ve completed onboarding and are contributing to live work.
- 90 days: You’re working independently, owning deliverables end to end, and building relationships across functions and regions.
- 6 months: Your fingerprints are on something real. You’ve improved a process, shipped something meaningful, or earned a seat at the table on a decision that matters.
