Senior Software Engineer for AI-Powered Banking Platform
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale production-grade AI-powered financial products. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on backend platform development, AI integration, and distributed systems. The ideal candidate has strong experience with TypeScript, Python, cloud-native architectures, and applying LLMs in real-world production environments.
General Information
Our client is a fast-growing, Series A-backed AI company delivering agentic AI solutions to banks and credit unions. Their platform is already serving over 100 financial institutions and more than 10 million end users.
The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with the VP of Engineering, CTO, and CEO to design, build, and operate scalable backend services and AI-powered applications. This role combines platform engineering with practical AI implementation, requiring an engineer who enjoys building production systems rather than conducting AI research.
Tasks and Deliverables
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services powering AI-driven financial products.
- Own technical decisions across system architecture, APIs, data models, performance, security, and reliability.
- Build backend applications using TypeScript and Python, while contributing to frontend functionality with JavaScript when needed.
- Integrate LLMs and agentic AI capabilities into production software.
- Design and implement distributed, cloud-native systems with strong observability and operational excellence.
- Define engineering best practices around code quality, testing, deployment, and incident response.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, data, and engineering leadership to deliver customer-facing features.
- Utilize modern AI development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production-grade applications.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
- Experience designing scalable backend systems, APIs, and distributed architectures.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
- Hands-on experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into production applications.
- Experience with prompt engineering and applying AI to solve real business problems.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, performance optimization, reliability, and security.
- Experience working in fast-paced product environments with significant technical ownership.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
Preferred Experience
- Conversational AI, Agentic AI, NLP, or dialogue systems.
- Fintech, banking, or regulated industry experience.
- Startup experience building products from early stages through scale.
- Experience with observability, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, and modern DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with AI developer tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
