Join our team and be at the forefront of innovation and creativity.</p> <p>The Storage Layer Services Team is currently re-architecting the MongoDB Cloud Storage Layer. This is a relatively new team in MongoDB that sits at the heart of the next generation MongoDB Cloud Storage Architecture, and the team is working to build performant multi-tenant distributed storage services both to enhance our existing MongoDB cloud storage architecture and to power more of our customers' use cases more efficiently. We are looking for talented Senior Engineers to join the team and be founding members of the team, where you will play a crucial role in our multi-year roadmap.</p> <p>Our team champions a strong culture of inclusivity, diversity, and collaboration. Let’s change what’s possible for application developers, system architects, and database operators.</p> <p>We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Sydney for our hybrid working model.</p> <h3>Candidate Profile</h3> <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in programming, debugging, and performance tuning of distributed and/or highly concurrent software systems</li> <li>Strong systems fundamentals, including multi-threaded programming and performance profiling</li> <li>Experience with distributed systems</li> <li>Proven experience in building, deploying, and operating multi-tenant cloud services with a focus on operational excellence</li> <li>Familiarity with database internals or experience building core components for data processing systems</li> <li>Hands-on experience in developing performance-sensitive software</li> <li>Experience with large backend/compiled codebases, preferably in Rust or C/C++</li> <li>B.Sc. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills, with a strong desire to collaborate with colleagues</li> <li>Strong time management skills and the ability to realistically assess project complexity</li> <li>Interest in the theory and practice of high-availability systems; hands-on experience or an M.Sc./Ph.D. in the domain is a plus</li> </ul> <h3>Position Expectations</h3> <ul> <li>Develop secure multi-tenant cloud-native storage solutions to ensure performance, automatic failover and zero downtime</li> <li>Implement and operate (oncall) production-ready applications in Rust</li> <li>Diagnose test failures and performance regressions, and implement fixes</li> <li>Lead development and project management for large, cross-team initiatives</li> <li>Identify, design, implement, test, and support new features related to Storage Layer Services, while contributing to the operational excellence of running a cloud service</li> <li>Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering leadership to define product roadmaps</li> </ul> <h3>Success Measures</h3> <ul> <li>In the first month: Understand the high-level architecture of MongoDB Cloud Storage Architecture and resolve a few bugs</li> <li>In three months: Contribute to the Rust development of a project slated for the initial release of the Storage Layer Services and take on code review responsibilities and participate in reviewing designs for new features</li> <li>In six months: Lead the development of a new feature and help mentor new engineers on the team</li> </ul> <h3>About MongoDB</h3> <p>MongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market.
