Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Growth Marketing is a team of performance-driven marketers and channel specialists. We partner closely with growth product, regional and demand marketing, and sales to drive revenue through self-serve and sales motions. The SEO & AEO function specifically drives organic discovery ensuring Stripe is found, cited, and recommended when developers, founders, and finance leaders are searching for or asking about payments, financial infrastructure, and related topics.

What you’ll do

This role owns one of the most strategically important and evolving acquisition channels at Stripe. Organic search is already one of our largest and most efficient growth channels and the emergence of AI-powered answer engines represents a once-in-a-generation shift in how businesses discover software. The role requires someone who can operate at the intersection of content, product, engineering, and data and who can credibly engage with Stripe's executive team on the strategic importance of organic visibility. This is a rare opportunity to define what AEO means for a company like Stripe and to build the playbook that others will follow.

Responsibilities

  • Own the organic growth strategy end-to-end across SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), including technical optimizations, content strategy, on-site experience, and visibility in general purpose assistants (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, etc.) and coding assistants (e.g. Claude, Codex, etc.)
  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing team of SEO and AEO specialists, fostering a culture of experimentation, operational excellence, and continuous learning
  • Drive measurable improvements in organic visibility, rankings, citations, traffic, signups, sales inbound and downstream activations across both AEO and SEO
  • Drive measurable improvements in how well AI tools are able to understand how Stripe’s products work and how to properly integrate them
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, content, growth, data science, and marketing to embed SEO/AEO best practices across Stripe's web properties, documentation, and product surfaces
  • Build and evolve the measurement framework for SEO and AEO: develop attribution models, define leading/lagging indicators, and quantify the revenue impact of organic channels
  • Own strategic roadmap for AEO: establish Stripe's point of view on how AI-generated answers reshape discovery, and position Stripe to win
  • Drive improvements across content quality, website architecture, and structured data to maximize discoverability
  • Represent organic growth performance and strategy across Stripe: translating complex technical SEO/AEO concepts into clear business impact narratives

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in SEO, with at least 3 years leading a team and 2+ years at a senior/leadership level engaging with executives
  • Demonstrated expertise in both technical SEO and content strategy, with a track record of driving significant organic growth at scale
  • Deep understanding of how AI-powered search and answer engines work (LLM-based retrieval, citation behavior, entity recognition) and a clear point of view on how to optimize for them
  • Ability to drive improvements across multiple levers: content, website architecture, product surfaces, structured data, measurement, and cross-functional influence
  • Strong analytical foundation: comfortable with data, attribution challenges, and building measurement frameworks that quantify the business impact of organic channels
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences and build strategic alignment around organic growth investment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, content, and data science teams to implement SEO/AEO improvements at scale
  • Track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with developer-focused or technical B2B products where documentation, API references, and technical content are significant organic surfaces
  • Background in international SEO strategy, including managing organic growth across multiple markets and languages
  • Experience building programmatic or product-led SEO at scale (e.g., template pages, user-generated content, dynamic landing pages)
  • Demonstrated early-mover advantage in AEO evidence of monitoring, optimizing for, or measuring visibility in AI-generated answers
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, metrics-driven culture where you must build the case for investment through data and strategic narrative
