Product Growth Lead - Consumer Technology · UK · Remote
About us
Pickle is a talent partner for fast-growing businesses. We help ambitious founders and leadership teams hire exceptional people across operations, product, technology, customer success, commercial, finance, and executive leadership.
We specialise in identifying high-quality permanent and contractor talent that can make an immediate impact, supporting businesses through key growth stages with a thoughtful, consultative approach to hiring. Whether it's a critical leadership appointment or building out an entire function, we work as an extension of our clients' teams to find people who combine the right skills, mindset, and cultural fit.
We believe great hiring goes beyond matching CVs to job descriptions. It's about understanding how businesses operate, what success looks like, and connecting them with people who will help them grow for the long term.
About our client and the role
Location: Remote first
Contract: Employed, Full-time hours
The company
A profitable, growing UK consumer technology business operating in a high-trust financial category. The company runs a portfolio of consumer products with significant transaction volume across the UK and North America, and is building toward a next-generation platform that converts occasional, moment-driven users into habitual year-round customers. The business funds its own growth from a strong balance sheet rather than external burn, and is entering its most ambitious product phase.
This search is being run confidentially ahead of an internal transition. The company, category and full context will be disclosed at first interview.
The role
This is a hands-on Product Growth role with real ownership: you will run the motion that turns peak-moment users into year-round habitual users, working with Product, Engineering and Analytics to ship the changes that drive it.
You will report to the Head of Product and act as the growth specialist across the product portfolio.
Our products are often driven by significant peak moments. The challenge is to turn those moments into longer-term relationships with users through better product experiences, experimentation, lifecycle and growth mechanics.
This is not a traditional marketing or channel-management role. We are looking for someone who starts with the product and user behaviour, identifies opportunities and works cross-functionally to make them happen.
What you will own
Repeat Users
You own the system that converts seasonal, moment-driven users into repeat users: the in-product mechanics, the lifecycle orchestration and the experiment pipeline that improves it quarter on quarter. This is a core growth objective, and it is yours end to end, from diagnosis through shipped change to measured result.
Growth experimentation
Identify high-value growth opportunities and turn them into focused, measurable experiments. Establish clear hypotheses, kill-or-continue conditions agreed upfront, and decisions from every result. Cycles run in days, not quarters.
Activation & conversion
Understand where users drop out of the journey and work with Product and Engineering to improve onboarding, conversion and first-use experience.
Retention & habit formation
Help turn occasion-led users into repeat users through product and lifecycle interventions that increase frequency and long-term engagement.
Product-led growth
Identify and test referral, sharing, gifting, invitation, and other growth loops, working with Product and Engineering to ship and measure them.
Lifecycle growth
Use email, SMS, push and in-product communication to improve activation, engagement and retention through behavioural segmentation.
Growth analytics
Understand the funnel from first touch through to repeat behaviour. Be comfortable working directly with product data, cohorts, funnels and experimentation results.
Go-to-market
When new products and surfaces ship, you build the go-to-market at execution level: positioning validated through experiments, launch mechanics, and early traction measurement, working with Product on what ships and the content function on how it lands.
What success looks like
- Peak-to-repeat conversion measurably improved within two quarters, with the before and after numbers to show it.
- A named growth loop shipped and measured within your first quarter.
- An experiment cadence of several tests per month, each producing a decision, not just a learning.
- Product-led growth mechanics identified, tested and shipped.
- A clear pipeline of growth opportunities within the Product roadmap.
- Product and Engineering have clear growth hypotheses, metrics and priorities to work from.
About You
You have hands-on experience in product growth, growth product management, consumer growth or a closely related discipline.
You are naturally curious about user behaviour and enjoy finding the points in a product journey where relatively small changes can create meaningful improvements.
You are:
- Product-minded — you understand that sustainable growth is often created inside the product.
- Highly experimental — you form hypotheses, test quickly and make decisions from evidence.
- Analytical — you can work directly with funnels, cohorts and behavioural data.
- Commercially minded — you know how to prioritise the opportunities that matter.
- Hands-on — you are comfortable moving from strategy to analysis to execution.
- Cross-functional — you can work effectively with Product, Engineering, Marketing and Analytics.
- High ownership — you don't wait to be told where the opportunity is; you find it and pursue it.
- Outcome-owned - you can point at a number you moved, name the base it moved from, and explain what you shipped to move it
Toolkit
Experience with tools such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog, GA4, Customer.io, Braze, Metabase or equivalent platforms.
Basic SQL or equivalent analytical capability would be advantageous.
Particularly exciting if you have
- Improved activation or retention for a consumer product, and can show the before and after numbers
- Built referral, sharing, gifting or invitation mechanics.
- Increased repeat behaviour for an occasion-led or seasonal product.
- Shipped growth experiments directly through Product and Engineering.
- Built behavioural lifecycle journeys.
- Worked in fintech, consumer technology, marketplaces, subscriptions or other high-trust environments.
Reporting & working relationships
You will report to the Head of Product, working closely with Product, Engineering, Analytics and the wider commercial and creative teams. With a direct line into CEO and founder growth conversations, this is the company's dedicated growth seat, not a support role.
This is a highly autonomous role with significant responsibility for identifying growth opportunities and turning them into shipped, measurable work.
Working Environment & Expectations
We're a remote-first team with regular meetups in London. We focus on trust, flexibility and high performance, with core hours for collaboration.
We're also a small, fast-moving team. Priorities can change quickly, information is not always complete and there will be periods where the pace and workload are demanding. You will have significant autonomy, but that comes with accountability for outcomes.
You need to thrive and love:
- Ambiguity: making sensible decisions with incomplete information, getting moving and surfacing important uncertainties as you go.
- Working under pressure: prioritising ruthlessly, making sensible trade-offs and maintaining good judgement when several things are happening at once.
- Change: adapting quickly when priorities shift, without unnecessary friction or losing sight of the outcome.
- Setbacks: responding constructively when things don't work, looking for patterns, adjusting your approach and continuing to move forward.
- Direct feedback: listening, challenging constructively and being willing to change your approach when the evidence supports it.
- Accountability: making risks, blockers and trade-offs visible early rather than allowing problems to become someone else's surprise.
- Ownership: focusing on what you can do to improve the overall outcome, even when the problem isn't entirely within your control.
We don't expect everything to go perfectly. We do expect you to remain calm, constructive and effective when it doesn't.
This isn't an environment where everything will be neatly defined or where someone else will always pick up the difficult bits. We're looking for people who become more useful when the work gets harder.
That doesn't mean working unsustainably or treating exhaustion as a virtue. For us, durability means maintaining good judgement, ownership and constructive behaviour when the circumstances aren't ideal.
Package and working
Competitive salary, 25 days leave plus public holidays, health benefit, remote-first with 1-2 monthly contact days across the SLT in London (which may increase dependent on roadmap and high growth periods), home set-up and learning budgets.
If you do not possess the full marketing and growth set of expertise we are still eager to speak. Our preference would a versatile growth operator that has evidenced working, in and through multiple product lines, and a portfolio of digital/tech experiences that orientates around product growth and development
