Newsletter Writer
The Caucus is a new independent news outlet covering the people and issues shaping the Democratic Party. We're launching in September to cover the midterm elections and prepare for the 2028 cycle. We're hiring a part-time writer, or more than one, to produce the daily newsletter, which is at the center of our coverage.
What you'll do
- Write and produce the newsletter on your assigned mornings
- Determine the most important stories in Democratic politics each day, and explain what they mean
- Turn our ratings, polling, and data into recurring sections
- Integrate the work of our reporters and columnists into the newsletter
What we're looking for
- A distinct writing voice, sustained on deadline
- Working knowledge of politics, and the ability to explain it to readers
- Familiarity with campaign finance data and public records
- Consistency, as the newsletter will go out four days per week
- Part time (10 to 20 hours a week), remote
- Pay is $45-$55 an hour, depending on experience
To apply
Send a resume and three writing samples to [email protected]. In a short note, tell us what you would lead with tomorrow morning and why.
The Caucus is an independent news outlet, launched with founder funding and built to be supported by our readers. We are not affiliated with any party committee, campaign, candidate, or advocacy organization, and no one outside our newsroom shapes what we publish.
