Product Marketing Lead, ChatGPT Work
About the Team
The B2B Marketing team contributes to OpenAI's broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. We are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI's products and platform. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Sales, Research, Comms, and Design teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels.
About the Role
We're looking for a senior product marketing leader to own the strategy, narrative, and go-to-market direction for ChatGPT Work. This role will help define how professionals, teams, and organizations put AI to work on meaningful tasks, move from questions to completed work, and adopt new ways of working across their business.
You will serve as the senior product marketing owner for ChatGPT Work, shaping the category, setting portfolio priorities, and connecting product innovation to customer understanding, adoption, and growth. Your scope will span the Work experience across surfaces, connected tools, and AI-powered workflows, with a clear focus on the needs of professional users, Business customers, and Enterprise organizations.
This is a leadership role for someone who can set strategy, make difficult tradeoffs, and stay close enough to the work to shape the messaging, product decisions, launches, and programs that determine whether customers adopt. You will partner with Product, Growth, Sales, Research, Comms, Creative, and adjacent product marketing teams to build a coherent experience from first discovery through sustained team usage.
In this role, you will:
Own the ChatGPT Work product marketing strategy: Define the audience, market opportunity, positioning, competitive strategy, and go-to-market priorities across professional users, teams, and enterprise customers.
Build a clear and differentiated product narrative: Explain what ChatGPT Work enables, when to use it, how it differs from a traditional chat experience, and how it complements Codex and other OpenAI products.
Lead the portfolio across launches and sustained adoption: Set priorities for major product moments while ensuring that customer education, activation, recurring usage, and ongoing demand do not disappear between launches.
Translate product capabilities into useful customer workflows: Turn advances across web, desktop, mobile, connected tools, and AI-assisted work into concrete examples, demos, stories, and programs that show how people complete real work.
Drive adoption from first useful task to team-wide usage: Partner with Product, Growth, Lifecycle, Customer Education, and Sales to improve discovery, activation, repeat workflows, team adoption, and expansion.
Shape the product through customer and market insight: Bring customer research, usage data, field feedback, competitive intelligence, and observed workflow barriers into product, packaging, and go-to-market decisions.
Build enterprise confidence and field readiness: Work with the administrator and governance PMM, buyer-focused marketers, and customer-facing teams to connect user value with deployment requirements, customer proof, executive buy-in, and a credible enterprise story.
Lead cross-functional decisions and raise the quality bar: Align Product, Engineering, Growth, Creative, Comms, Sales, and Marketing around shared priorities; coach product marketers; and make clear choices about what matters most.
Measure whether the work is changing customer behavior: Define success using meaningful indicators such as qualified adoption, activation, repeat usage, retention, team penetration, customer preference, and business impact.
You might thrive in this role if you have:
12+ years of experience in product marketing, product strategy, or closely related go-to-market leadership roles, including ownership of a complex software, platform, or AI product.
A strong track record of defining product and category strategy, not just executing launches or producing marketing assets.
Experience bringing products to market across both self-serve and enterprise motions, with an understanding of how individual usage grows into team adoption and organizational standardization.
Exceptional positioning, writing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to make sophisticated technology concrete and relevant to professional users and executive buyers.
Demonstrated success working closely with Product and Engineering to shape priorities, clarify tradeoffs, and turn customer insight into better product and go-to-market decisions.
Experience leading through influence, developing other product marketers, and earning trust with senior cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
Strong analytical judgment and experience connecting product marketing programs to adoption, retention, expansion, or other meaningful business outcomes.
A practical understanding of how knowledge workers use AI across functions such as operations, finance, marketing, sales, legal, or strategy.
High standards for craft, intellectual honesty, customer empathy, and clear communication in environments where products and market conditions change quickly.
Genuine curiosity about AI and hands-on experience using modern AI products to improve how work gets done.
Workplace & Location
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. Occasional travel will be required.
