Smith's Mitre 10 MEGA is a family-owned Christchurch business committed to delivering exceptional customer service to every customer, every time.

This is your opportunity to join our Papanui store and become part of a team that strives to make Mitre 10 MEGA Papanui the number one destination for Trade and DIY customers alike.

We are currently seeking a Fixed Term Checkout Operator to join our team, working Fridays and Saturdays (17 hours per week) until the end of January 2027.

As the friendly face of our store, you'll be responsible for providing outstanding service at our checkouts, ensuring every customer leaves with a positive experience. You'll interact with a wide range of customers, from skilled tradespeople to weekend DIY enthusiasts, helping to create a welcoming and efficient checkout experience.

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Enthusiasm and a positive team-focused attitude
  • A passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Confidence using computers and point-of-sale systems
  • A friendly, approachable manner and a great smile
