Retail Planning Executive
At the heart of everything we do is our vision to change lives every day, and our mission to grow The National Lottery responsibly and champion its impact.
We are Allwyn UK, part of the Allwyn Entertainment Group – a multi-national lottery operator with a market-leading presence across the USA (Michigan and Illinois) and Europe, including Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Cyprus and Italy.
While the main contribution of The National Lottery to society is through the funds to good causes, at Allwyn we put our purpose and values at the heart of everything we do. Join us as we embark on a once-in-a-lifetime, largescale transformation journey by creating a National Lottery that delivers more money to good causes.
We’ll talk a bit more about us further down the page, but for now – let’s talk about the role and who we’re looking for…
A bit about the role
- Report to the Retail Planning Manager and support planning activity for National Account Team (NAT) priorities across the Retail Channel.
- Help develop and maintain the tools, trackers and planning materials used by the Retail Sales Team to deliver key initiatives
- Support the Retail Planning Manager and Senior Retail Planning Manager in creating clear plans that keep retailers at the centre of our thinking.
- Contribute to the Planning, Communications and Training framework and the Go to Market planning process, making sure retail priorities, timings and requirements are aligned.
- Work closely with National Account Managers, Retail Channels, Supply Chain, Customer and Retail Care, Concierge and other internal teams to support smooth delivery and issue resolution.
- Help bring The National Lottery to life for retailers by supporting practical, consistent and well-communicated retail execution.
What you’ll be doing
Planning and coordination
- Maintain the NAT planner, trackers and supporting documents, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and easy to use.
- Support the build of yearly and quarterly Retail Contact Model plans and NAT requirements.
- Help translate briefs into clear actions, timelines and stakeholder asks.
- Support the Retail Planning Manager with planning inputs for alignment calls and Go to Market activity.
Retail execution and operations
- Support improvements to retail channel operations, processes, capabilities and tools.
- Help develop ways to deliver strong in-store execution of The National Lottery across the retail estate, considering format, sector and retailer nuances.
- Support deployment queries and escalations, working with National Account Executives and deployment leads to help resolve issues
- Support the scratchcard returns process, including helping ensure NAT accounts have the right bags and complete closures on time.
Communication and stakeholder support
- Collate communication requirements, align with the communications team and support the sign-off process.
- Prepare clear decks, updates and supporting documents for retail teams, workgroups and meetings, including the Retail Channels Steering Group.
- Support National Account Managers through chat groups, helping manage questions, updates and escalations.
- Attend relevant weekly status meetings with other Retail Planning Executives and share key updates with the planning team.
Tools, systems and continuous improvement
- Support requirements gathering and ongoing use of the GEM suite capability for NAT back-end activity.
- Responsible for the day to day running of GEMi including issue escalation and ideation for future developments
- Own the tactical data requests and alignment for the field teams
- Monitor and action new requests for the Retail Strategy and Excellence team through the front door process.
- Support the briefing and creation of Category Story materials.
What experience we’re looking for
- Some experience in retail, field sales, commercial operations, planning, account support, project coordination or a similar fast-paced business environment.
- A good understanding of retail execution, store operations or brand activation, with an interest in how plans land in-store.
- Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, keep trackers accurate and follow through on actions.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear updates, decks and documents.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and building positive relationships with colleagues across different teams.
- Able to use business reporting, data and feedback to understand issues and help identify practical improvements
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with Google Suite, CMS platforms or planning tools would be helpful, but can be developed.
- Curious, proactive and keen to learn, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge constructively and suggest improvements.
- Retailer-focused, with the ability to think about what plans mean for retailers and how to make them clear, manageable and effective.
- Commercially aware, with an interest in sales performance, customer experience and the role of The National Lottery in retail.
Key measures of success
- Plans, trackers and planning documents are accurate, current and easy for stakeholders to use.
- NAT and Retail teams receive clear, timely and useful support to help deliver priorities.
- Retailer impact is considered in planning recommendations, communications and operational decisions.
- Issues, risks and escalations are captured, progressed and shared with the right people.
- Briefs are turned into practical actions that support improved operations or bring new ideas to life.
About us
At Allwyn, we are dedicated to changing lives and growing the National Lottery responsibly, championing its positive impact on people, places, and the planet.
- Innovation - We pride ourselves on it! We’re constantly looking for new ways to excite our customers, bringing new products to market to enjoy which is all supported by our responsible play values and making them accessible to all.
- Giving back – Did you know that playing the lottery generates around £30m a week for charities and good causes in the UK? Our aim is to have doubled this number by the end of the first 10-year license.

We’ve already transitioned to renewable energy providers, made our London and Watford offices zero gas, and ensured our fleet consists of low-emission vehicles. In addition, we’re working with our value chain partners to develop a net zero target date.
- Empowering every voice – We believe in creating a culture where everyone feels they belong, can be themselves, has access to opportunities and can thrive for the benefit of good causes. Our diverse teams are working hard to make all parts of The National Lottery inclusive – whether people play a game in a store or online, because when everyone can play, everyone wins..
