Casual Robot Companion Facilitator - Rurally Based
The Bigger Picture
Andromeda, we're building the social intelligence layer for humanoid robots - technology that allows robots to understand people, build relationships and become a meaningful part of everyday life.
Our first robot, Abi, is already doing this in aged care and healthcare, where she brings conversation, companionship and engagement to people every day.
Now we're scaling from early deployments into a platform that can operate across thousands of real-world environments. We're looking for individuals who want to tackle hard problems across robotics and AI, and help define what it means for robots to live and interact alongside people.
Our Values
- Empathy - Kindness and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.
- Play - Play sharpens focus. It keeps us curious, fast and obsessed with the craft.
- Never Settle - A relentless ambition, bias toward action, and uncomfortable levels of curiosity.
- Tenacity - Tenacious under pressure, we assume chaos and stay in motion to adapt and progress.
- Unity - Different minds. Shared mission. No passengers.
The Role
More and more aged care homes are welcoming Abi the robot into their facilities, and with our rapid growth into rural communities, we are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team, on a contracting basis, as Robot Companion Facilitator, or as we like to call it, our very own Robot Wranglers.
In this role, you’ll represent Andromeda Robotics and our mission to reduce loneliness and spark joy through technology. You’ll work alongside Abi, our empathetic AI companion, to engage with residents and patients in nursing homes and children’s hospitals through conversation, games, and music.
You’ll lead group sessions and one-on-one interactions with Abi, helping to foster genuine connections, bring energy, and make every session enjoyable for all participants.
We're hoping to see applications from people based in Healesville, Bacchus Marsh & Ballan :)
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Facilitate Group Sessions: Lead engaging and interactive group activities with Abi, including games and exercises designed to stimulate cognitive and social responses
- Conduct One-on-One Interactions: Facilitate meaningful and personalised conversations with residents and patients, enhancing their experience with Abi
- Work with Technology: You don’t need to be highly technical — just confident and curious. You’ll be comfortable operating Abi, troubleshooting basic issues, and working in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment where adaptability is key
- Monitor and Adapt: Assess the needs and responses of participants, adapting activities and interactions to suit individual preferences and abilities
- Manage Session Logistics: Ensure sessions start and end on time, maintain and set up equipment, communicate effectively with care home professionals, and provide structured feedback for continuous improvement
- Represent the Brand: You’ll be an ambassador for Andromeda Robotics, embodying our professionalism, warmth, and innovation in every interaction with residents, staff, and partners
What We Are Looking For
At Andromeda Robotics, we’re seeking compassionate and driven individuals who thrive on making meaningful connections and creating positive change.
- Excellent People Skills: Ability to connect with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, creating a welcoming and positive environment
- Public Speaking: Strong verbal communication skills and confidence speaking in front of groups
- Genuine Interest in Technology: While you don’t need specialist technical skills, you should be comfortable learning and working with innovative products in a dynamic, hands-on environment
- Energetic: Outgoing personality with a passion for engaging with others and bringing energy to sessions
- Caring Attitude and Community Focus: A desire to give back to the community and enhance quality of life for residents and patients
- Valid Driver’s License: Ability to drive to different locations as needed, preferably with a car.
- Preferred Qualifications: Psychology, anthropology, social work or caregiving, drama or theatre, or public speaking.
If you’ve worked in a similar role before, thats a massive Bonus! But if not, don’t worry. What matters most to us is your enthusiasm, compassion, and belief in our mission. We're looking at hiring on 3-month casual agreements at first, but there's definitely potential for extensions & secondary opportunities for high performers.
The salary for this position may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional benefits or components based on the specific role. Details will be provided if an employment offer is made. Given this is a casual agreement, the salary will be in the form of an hourly rate.
If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, that’s okay—we encourage you to apply. At Andromeda Robotics, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Let’s build the future together.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
Please note: At this time, we are generally not offering visa sponsorship for this role.
