The Rocket Media Group is seeking a dynamic and versatile General Assignment Reporter to join our vibrant news team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of delivering timely, accurate, and compelling news stories across multiple platforms. Your energetic storytelling, sharp journalistic skills, and ability to adapt quickly to breaking news will be essential in engaging our diverse audience. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your reporting expertise while contributing to high-quality journalism that informs and inspires the community.

Responsibilities—Cover a wide range of news assignments with enthusiasm, including breaking news, feature stories, and investigative reports.—Conduct thorough research and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and adherence to AP style guidelines.—Capture high-quality photos and videos relevant to stories, utilizing broadcast journalism techniques and news broadcast videography skills.—Write clear, concise articles and scripts that tell compelling stories through journalistic writing, content writing, and copywriting.—Collaborate with editors and team members to refine content through proofreading, copy editing, and content editing processes.—Manage multiple deadlines efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality in storytelling and visual presentation.

Experience—Proven experience in broadcast journalism or digital journalism with a strong portfolio of published work.—Demonstrated proficiency in journalism tools such as AP style, research techniques, and fact-checking processes.—Skilled in video production including videography, video editing, and content creation for television or online platforms.—Experience managing social media platforms for news dissemination and audience engagement.—Strong written communication skills with the ability to craft compelling articles and scripts under tight deadlines.—Familiarity with photography, storytelling techniques, broadcast editing, and social media management is highly desirable.
