OnePet is a portfolio of digitally native pet brands, including Total Vet, CertaPet, and Honest Paws. We help pet owners discover, decide, and purchase trustworthy products and services for their pets.

We're looking for a highly resourceful Off-Page SEO & Link Building Specialist to own link acquisition and off-site authority building across 3-4 primary domains.

This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role. We're looking for someone who can identify opportunities, decide how to attack them, and execute - not someone who needs a large team, detailed SOPs, or constant direction.

Buying links can be a tactic. It cannot be your entire strategy.

What You'll Do

Your job is straightforward: build a stronger, more diverse, and more valuable backlink and off-site brand profile that contributes to higher rankings and more organic traffic.

  • Creative link acquisition: Develop campaigns and angles that give publishers a real reason to link - original data, statistics, surveys, resources, visual assets, tools, awards, rankings, expert contributions, or ideas we haven't thought of yet.
  • Digital PR & media outreach: Find newsworthy angles, identify journalists and publishers, pitch stories and expertise, and turn those relationships into coverage, links, and brand mentions.
  • Traditional link building: Execute competitive link-gap analysis, reclamation, broken-link opportunities, unlinked mentions, resource outreach, guest contributions, partnerships, directories, and other proven tactics.
  • Paid placements: Identify worthwhile opportunities, evaluate quality and risk, negotiate pricing and terms, and determine whether the expected value justifies the cost.
  • GEO & brand visibility: Pursue relevant brand mentions, citations, and off-site signals that can improve visibility across ChatGPT, Google AI experiences, Perplexity, and other answer engines - not just traditional search.
  • Experimentation: Continuously test new approaches while maintaining reliable campaigns that produce consistent results.

Not every experiment needs to work. The overall program does.

How You'll Operate

You'll have substantial freedom to determine how you get results. We expect you to understand the backlink profiles of the sites you're responsible for, identify the biggest opportunities, communicate what you're pursuing, and then execute.

Use AI heavily. Automate where it makes sense. Build relationships. Negotiate. Develop assets. Run outreach. Find creative shortcuts. Use whatever legitimate resources and processes help you produce better results.

You will not be micromanaged. In return, you'll be accountable for outcomes.

If an opportunity carries meaningful SEO, reputational, or financial risk, we expect you to recognize it and discuss the risk/reward with us before proceeding. Otherwise, use good judgment and keep moving.

How We'll Measure Success

The primary scorecard starts with high-quality referring domains, links, brand mentions, and citations acquired.

  • Quality and relevance of referring domains
  • Number and diversity of links acquired
  • Brand mentions and AI/answer-engine citations
  • Growth and quality of our backlink profiles
  • Cost and value of paid acquisitions
  • Performance of different campaigns and tactics

The goal is improved rankings, search visibility, and organic traffic.

We'll have lightweight weekly and monthly reporting, and you'll maintain enough structured tracking for us to understand which sources, tactics, and campaigns are producing the best results.

What We're Looking For

We care more about what you've accomplished than how many years you've been doing it.

  • Acquire high-quality backlinks through multiple strategies - not just paid placements or mass outreach.
  • Evaluate whether a backlink opportunity is genuinely valuable using data and judgment.
  • Develop and execute creative link-building campaigns from idea through acquisition.
  • Conduct effective outreach to journalists, bloggers, publishers, website owners, and partners.
  • Evaluate and negotiate paid placements rather than simply accepting quoted prices.
  • Use competitive backlink analysis, reclamation, prospecting, and other core off-page SEO techniques.
  • Understand GEO/AEO and the growing importance of off-site brand mentions and citations.
  • Use AI to dramatically increase your research, prospecting, outreach, analysis, and execution capacity.
  • Run multiple campaigns independently and prioritize your time based on expected impact.
  • Communicate effectively in English internally and externally.
  • Know when to experiment, when to scale something that works, and when to stop wasting time on something that doesn't.

We don't care what industry you've worked in. We don't care whether you learned link building at an agency, in-house, independently, or somewhere else.

We care whether you can produce results.

Tools & Resources

  • Ahrefs
  • Google Search Console
  • SEO Gets
  • Claude company subscription

If another tool or resource will materially improve results, make the case for it.

The same applies to campaign and link-acquisition spend. We don't have a rigid price we're willing to pay for a link. Budget follows value. Find the opportunity, evaluate it intelligently, negotiate it well, and tell us why it's worth the investment.

The Role in One Sentence

Own off-page SEO across several domains, attack link acquisition from multiple angles, use AI and your own resourcefulness to execute at a high level, and be accountable for measurable results.

If that's already how you approach link building, we'd like to hear from you.
