About LondonEnergy

At LondonEnergy, we’re proud of our vital role in managing North London’s waste and protecting the environment. As part of the team, you’ll already know that we handle and process 750,000 tonnes of waste each year, making us the second largest waste contract in the UK.

By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

About the role

We are seeking an RRC & Transport Operations Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across LondonEnergy’s eight Reuse & Recycling Centres (RRCs) and Transport & Logistics operations.

You will lead two RRC Contracts Managers and the Transport & Logistics Manager, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, commercially effective, and customer-focused operations across all sites. This is a senior multi-site leadership role requiring someone who can balance Health & Safety, environmental compliance, financial performance, customer service, asset management, and continuous improvement.

You will work closely with the North London Waste Authority (NLWA), boroughs, suppliers, contractors, regulators, and members of the public, while also supporting the development of future operational and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic leadership across eight RRCs and Transport & Logistics, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and customer-focused operations.
    • Lead and develop two RRC Contracts Managers and the Transport & Logistics Manager, driving performance, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
    • Lead Health & Safety, environmental compliance, and risk management across all operational areas, ensuring legislation, permits, and company standards are consistently met.
    • Manage operational performance, contractual KPIs, P&L, budgets, procurement, suppliers, and contractors to deliver strong commercial and service outcomes.
    • Build effective relationships with NLWA, boroughs, regulators, contractors, suppliers, and members of the public, responding professionally to operational escalations and complaints.
    • Drive improvements in reuse and recycling rates, asset management, operational efficiency, environmental outcomes, and value for money, while supporting capital projects and future RRC development.
    • Maintain strong operational oversight across all sites through regular visits, benchmarking, performance reviews, and collaboration with Waste Operations and Site Management teams.

Skills, Experience & Knowledge:

  • Previous experience within waste disposal facilities, ideally including RRCs, WTSs, and Transport operations.
  • Proven experience managing large, multi-disciplinary operational teams with strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements, with an in-date NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Health & Safety at Work certificate, or equivalent.
  • Good numeracy and financial management skills, including experience managing P&L accounts, budgets, and operational costs.
  • High level of computer literacy and confidence using operational and business management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points, with willingness to travel regularly across London.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, demonstrate initiative and flexibility, develop others, and build effective relationships across teams and stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • COTC WAMITAB Level 4 qualification.
  • Degree or equivalent in Waste Management, Environmental Science, Operations Management, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent.
