HRM Homecare Services is looking for Support Workers to join our teams across Glasgow East. For more than 30 years, we have supported people to live in their own homes and communities. We want our support to help people retain independence, make their own choices and live the life that matters to them.

This is a practical care role, but it is not simply about completing tasks. We are looking for people who will build respectful relationships, encourage people to do as much as possible for themselves, notice when something changes and take responsibility for providing safe, reliable and thoughtful support.

Where you will work

Our Support Workers are based in communities including Springburn, Robroyston, Dennistoun, North East Glasgow, East Centre, Calton, Shettleston, Baillieston and surrounding areas.

What you will do

·         Provide personal care and practical support, including assistance with washing, dressing, eating, medication and daily living activities, in a way that protects dignity and maximises the person's participation.

·         Understand each person's care and support plan, preferences and outcomes and help them retain or develop independence wherever possible.

·         Support people to take part in meaningful activities, relationships and community life.

·         Observe changes in health, wellbeing, needs or circumstances and take appropriate action within your role.

·         Maintain accurate and meaningful records and communicate important information promptly.

·         Work collaboratively with families, colleagues and health and social care professionals.

·         Promote choice, control, safety, wellbeing and a comfortable home environment.

·         Contribute ideas and feedback that can improve the person's support and the quality of the service.

What we are looking for

·         A compassionate, respectful approach and a genuine belief in people's right to independence and choice.

·         Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Reliability, initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

·         Good observation and practical problem-solving skills.

·         A flexible approach to working hours, including some weekends and evenings.

·         Willingness to learn and to take personal responsibility for maintaining the knowledge, skills and competence required for your role.

·         Previous care or support experience is welcome but is not essential. We recruit for values and potential as well as experience.

·         A PVG check will be required.

Professional registration and development

Support Workers are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and to hold, or work towards, an accepted qualification for the role. HRM's principal development route is the SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 6, historically referred to as SVQ Level 2.

HRM provides organisational induction, supervision and learning and development support in accordance with our policies. As a registered social service worker, you are also expected to take personal responsibility for maintaining your SSSC registration, continuing professional learning and the competence required for safe and effective practice.

What we offer

·         £13.45 per hour

·         Mileage

·         Free uniform

·         Early Access to Pay

·         Blue Light Card membership

·         Shift pattern: 3 days Week 1 and 4 days Week 2

·         Part-time and full-time opportunities

·         Organisational induction, supervision and ongoing learning and development support

·         Opportunities for people who demonstrate the capability and ambition to develop and progress

Interested?

If you want a role where your judgement, relationships and contribution matter, and where you can help people remain independent in their own homes, we would like to hear from you.
