
Nurse Practitioner
Location: Hutt South and Central Community Mental Health team base 40-42 Queens Drive Lower Hutt
Contract: Permanent, Part Time (0.6-0.8 FTE) 24-32 hours per week (flexible)

Abot the Role
The Hutt Valley Community Health Team Service has an exciting opportunity for an innovative Mātanga Tapuhi Nurse Practitioner (NP) position or a NP Candidacy to registration for this area of practice.
As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide independent, accessible, and high-quality nursing care that is fully integrated across mental health and addiction services, with strong partnerships across primary, hospital, and specialist care settings. You will provide expert clinical leadership to support improved outcomes for adults accessing mental health and addiction services, with a particular focus on care transitions and continuity of care.

About you
We are looking for the following experience and professional requirements:
- Clinical Nursing Masters including or additional NP required practicum course/s (60 credits)
- Current Mātanga Tapuhi NP Annual Practising Certificate with recent relevant clinical experience
- Will have a proven experience and evidence of advanced mental health nursing expertise.
- Be able to work as an autonomous practitioner who works independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (MDT)
- Has experience in leadership, coaching and mentoring approaches
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
- Experience in practice development and quality improvement strategies
- Thorough understanding of the Mental Health Act.
- Committed to achieving equitable outcomes for Maori whanau.

We are looking for a recognised advanced practice nurse that has a passion for ongoing learning and the ability to adapt to work effectively with different learning experiences. You will need:
- Registered Nurse (RN) and a current practising certificate with no restrictions from the NCNZ
- At least three - four years relevant expertise clinical experience and working at an advanced RN practice level aligning.
- Expert or Senior level on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP)
- A Clinical Masters or the prerequisites postgraduate courses (120 Credits) to meet the requirements to undertake the NP postgraduate practicum course/s enabling application on to the national Nurse Practitioner Training Support Scheme (NPTSS).
