Our client is a privately owned and operated New Zealand property services business established in 2012. Servicing commercial clients across Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Wellington, they provide commercial repainting, building and roofing repairs, plumbing, electrical services, line marking and other specialist property solutions.
With a strong focus on quality, safety and service, they work across aged and health care, body corporate, commercial, education and retail environments while continuing to develop innovative ways to deliver property maintenance services.
About The OpportunityThe primary purpose of this position is to lead the safe, efficient and professional operation of the company's commercial drone fleet across building cleaning, roof treatment, inspection and specialist property maintenance services.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager / Chief Operations Officer, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Operating commercial drones in line with NZ CAA and Part 102 requirements, including pre-flight, operational and post-flight checks and accurate flight records
- Conducting site-specific risk assessments, establishing safe operating zones and monitoring weather, hazards and surrounding people, vehicles and property
- Performing external building cleaning (elevation, façade, roof, soft-wash, low-pressure) and applying approved treatments for moss, mould and algae
- Managing spray pressure, flow rates, nozzle selection and chemical concentration, and controlling drift to protect people, gardens and waterways
- Conducting roof and building inspections, capturing before-and-after imagery, photos, video and mapping outputs for condition reporting
- Maintaining drones, batteries, pumps, nozzles, hoses and spray systems, and keeping chemical-use, maintenance, incident and completion records
- Communicating with customers and site personnel, leading a small drone crew when required, and taking part in toolbox meetings and safety training
- Carrying out other duties as required from time to time, including standard building washing (non-drone) during periods without drone work
The successful candidate will have:
- Demonstrated commercial drone operating experience in New Zealand, including around buildings and structures
- NZ CAA-approved drone pilot training or qualification to Part 102 standard, ideally within a Part 102-certified operation
- Strong knowledge of aviation safety, site risk assessment and operational risk management
- Full New Zealand driver's licence and strong understanding of workplace Health & Safety requirements
You will also have:
- Excellent spatial awareness, judgement and attention to detail, with mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment
- Strong communication skills with a professional, customer-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and lead a small crew when required, with the physical capability to work outdoors and handle drone and cleaning equipment
The following would also be desirable:
- Agricultural spray drone experience (e.g. DJI Agras or equivalent), including chemical application, spray calibration, application rates, nozzle selection, drift management and spray records
- GROWSAFE certification or approved-handler requirements
- Experience with commercial building washing, soft washing or roof treatments
- Experience with mapping, photogrammetry, or working in EWP/working-at-height environments
- Sales experience, or a strong customer-facing approach with the ability to identify additional work opportunities on site
