Technical Artist

SpAItial is pioneering Physically-grounded World Models, a new AI paradigm designed to generate and reason about the appearance and physics of real and imagined environments. We are moving beyond 2D pixels to build models that natively understand the geometry of our world, and redefining how industries from robotics and AR/VR to gaming and cinema create and interact with 3D environments.

We are looking for our first Technical Artist to create attention around SpAItial. Our models produce results worth staring at, and we need someone who can make that undeniable in public: short-form video, stills, and interactive demos that people stop for, published on X, LinkedIn, and YouTube at a steady cadence. You will take raw model outputs and make them look spectacular through camera, lighting, motion, VFX, and grade, and build 3D prototypes in Three.js, including AR and XR, that people can actually step into. A technical artist and prototyper, with a public social presence built on your own films, stills, and demos.

You sit next to our product engineers. You own the social presence that puts SpAItial in front of an audience, the artefacts that prove the models, and the prototypes that make the work felt.

We care far more about what you have made than where you have worked. Send us the account and the reel: films, stills, and demos that people remember, and an audience that comes back for the next one.

Responsibilities

  • Attention. Own how SpAItial shows up on X, LinkedIn, and YouTube: the cadence, the craft of each post, and the audience it builds. Turn our models and prototypes into work people stop for and share.

  • Video. Direct, shoot, and cut our films, from short-form pieces made for social to launch films and showreels.

  • Prototypes. Build interactive 3D prototypes in Three.js, including Gaussian splat scenes and AR and XR on headsets and phones, and take an idea to something clickable in days. Unreal is welcome for heavier real-time work.

  • Creative community. Engage designers, architects, technical artists, and spatial computing practitioners, and help run creative partner programs, workshops, and jams.

  • Technical art. Craft beautiful artefacts from our models, designing camera paths, lighting, and composition so a reconstruction reads as a finished piece rather than a research dump.

  • Finishing. Composite, grade, and add VFX, and deliver the stills and sequences that make a result obvious in five seconds.

Key qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in technical art, VFX, real-time 3D, creative technology, or a similar role.

  • A track record of building an audience. You have grown a following by publishing your own films, stills, or demos, and you can shoot, cut, and post short-form video at a weekly cadence without a studio behind you.

  • A portfolio of things you made yourself, publicly visible. We will spend more time on your films, stills, and prototypes than on your CV.

  • Technical-artist craft on 3D content. You can take a scene or a splat and turn it into a finished artefact through camera, lighting, composition, and look development.

  • VFX know-how, including compositing, motion graphics, grading, and shot finishing in tools such as After Effects, Nuke, Fusion, Blender, or Houdini.

  • Able to prototype in Three.js well enough to ship an interactive 3D demo without a hand-off. Experience in Unreal is a strong plus.

  • High ownership and comfortable with ambiguity. You will be the first person in this role and you will define it.

Nice to have

  • An audience that already overlaps ours, in 3D, spatial computing, VFX, or creative technology.

  • Hands-on AR, XR, or headset work: WebXR, native mobile AR, or spatial computing on Vision Pro or Quest.

  • Familiarity with Gaussian splats, photogrammetry, or other captured 3D representations.

  • A background in design, architecture, industrial design, animation, or VFX, or another discipline that trains you to think spatially and in shots.

  • Strong visual design across typography, layout, colour, and motion, applied to web, decks, and launch materials.

  • Experience contributing to a brand identity, including type and motion systems.

  • Experience running community programs, hackathons, or creator partnerships.

At SpAItial, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and ensure all candidates are treated fairly throughout the recruitment process.
