We are working with a global water technology company focused on solving critical water and infrastructure challenges through innovative technology and digital solutions. They help utilities, industrial companies and communities manage water more efficiently, intelligently and sustainably. We are looking for a Java Developer to join a Scrum team responsible for developing and maintaining modern, cloud-based solutions. You will work across the full software development lifecycle — from refining and designing new features, through implementation and automated testing, to deployments and production support. The role combines strong Java 21+ backend development with hands-on involvement in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and DevOps practices. Your daily responsibilities Contribute to refinement sessions by proposing technical designs and defining acceptance criteria for new features Design and develop features that meet functional, technical and quality requirements Estimate development workload and contribute to delivery planning for upcoming sprints Take ownership of unit and integration test suites and ensure required code coverage levels are maintained Review and remediate security vulnerabilities in source code and application dependencies Collaborate closely with the entire Scrum team, actively participating in Scrum ceremonies, technical discussions and pull request reviews Support application releases and deployments across environments Troubleshoot and resolve support cases and production issues Contribute to technical decisions, code quality improvements and the continuous evolution of the application architecture Work with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure as part of the regular software delivery process We need you to have Strong commercial experience in backend software development using Java 21+ Very good knowledge of the Java ecosystem and modern Java development practices Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and building production-grade backend applications Experience designing and developing REST APIs and distributed services Good understanding of microservices architecture and related design patterns Experience with relational databases and SQL Strong experience with automated testing, including unit and integration testing Understanding of software security principles, dependency management and vulnerability remediation Hands-on DevOps experience, including working with CI/CD pipelines and automated application deployments Practical experience with Docker and containerized applications Experience working with Kubernetes Practical knowledge of cloud environments and cloud-native application development Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automated infrastructure provisioning Good understanding of Git-based development workflows, code reviews and pull requests Experience working in Agile / Scrum teams Ability to troubleshoot issues across application, infrastructure and deployment layers Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed engineering team Good command of English, both spoken and written It would be great if you also have Experience with data processing and ETL pipelines, including batch and stream processing Experience working with Apache Iceberg tables Knowledge of workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow Experience with dbt Practical programming experience with Python Experience using Claude Code or similar AI-assisted software development tools in your engineering workflow Experience working with large-scale data platforms or data-intensive applications Experience in environments where reliability, security and maintainability are critical Our Architecture and Technology Stack Backend: Java 21+, Spring Boot Architecture: Microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems Data: Relational databases, SQL Testing: Unit tests, integration tests, automated quality and code coverage checks Cloud & Infrastructure: Cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code CI/CD & DevOps: Automated build, test and deployment pipelines, Git-based workflows Security: Secure coding practices, dependency scanning and vulnerability remediation Data processing: Batch and stream processing, Apache Iceberg, Apache Airflow, dbt Additional languages: Python Development tooling: Git, pull request-based development, Claude Code Our offer In addition to great company and challenging projects, we can offer much more, i.e. Knowledge sharing within our company Agile and friendly atmosphere, non-violent communication and full respect for diversity Remuneration: 130–140 PLN/h on a B2B contract, depending on experience and technical expertise
