Teamwork makes the stream work.

Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

What is the role?

Roku is seeking a Senior QA Automation Architect to help evolve test automation capabilities from primarily AV-sync testing into broader audio quality coverage across Roku TVs, soundbars, and headphones. In this role, you will partner closely with the team lead to architect and advance the automation ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on AI-driven innovation through internal initiatives. You will design and implement test analysis systems that identify quality gaps, predict failure patterns, and optimize test effectiveness across products. This role requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable working through ambiguity while navigating evolving priorities. You will establish new methodologies for measuring and improving test quality beyond simple pass/fail metrics, focusing on regression prevention and production reliability. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in test architecture, embedded systems automation, and AI-powered quality assurance, and is excited to drive meaningful transformation in how Roku tests and delivers audio experiences.

How will I use AI at Roku?

At Roku, we don't just use AI, we work with it. AI agents and smart tools help power drafts, analysis, and repetitive workflows, while our people bring direction, judgment, and accountability. We're looking for curious, adaptable builders who can show how they've used AI or automation to move faster, raise the bar, and scale their impact.

We value your AI skills if have built fluency across the agentic engineering toolchain — coding harnesses like Claude Code or Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks. And you can describe projects where you shipped real work with these tools. You know how to drive an agent, verify its output, and ramp on an unfamiliar codebase with an agent helping you.

What are the responsibilities of the role?

Design and implement test analysis systems that identify quality gaps, predict failure patterns, and optimise test effectiveness

Design systems that collect, analyse, and act on testing data to continuously improve quality processes

Leverage AI-powered tools to implement test automation, failure analysis, and root cause identification

Establish new methodologies for measuring and improving test quality beyond simple pass/fail metrics, focusing on regression prevention and production reliability

Define and implement architectural patterns that make testing more effective, maintainable, and aligned with business impact

Drive systematic regression tracking and implement processes to prevent regression reoccurrence

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align quality initiatives with broader engineering goals

Mentor engineers on best practices in test architecture, automation design, and AI-assisted quality assurance

What experience would help someone be successful in this role at Roku?

Expertise in test architecture and automation systems design

Programming experience across multiple languages, with Python as a core requirement

Expertise in test automation with embedded systems in the loop

Proven track record driving test transformation initiatives that significantly improved test effectiveness and reduced production issues

Ability to design, implement, and optimize solutions leveraging AI tools and predictive analytics for quality assurance

Knowledge of continuous integration tools (Jenkins, GitLab, TeamCity, AWS) and their optimization for quality gates

Experience with test flakiness analysis, failure pattern recognition, and automated root cause identification

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams on quality initiatives

Experience mentoring engineers and driving organisational change in testing practices

Experience as a project QA or development lead, or in a similar capacity

Certifications or training in AI/ML or AI-driven testing approaches

#LI-AM3

What's Roku's approach to hybrid working?

Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.

To learn more about Roku, our global footprint, and how we've grown, visit https://www.weareroku.com/factsheet.

By providing your information, you acknowledge that you want Roku to contact you about job roles, that you have read Roku's Applicant Privacy Notice, and understand that Roku will use your information as described in that notice.
