
Senior Analyst – Organisational Insights | Kaiwhakawhanake – Māramatanga Hinonga
This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of organisational decision-making - supporting performance monitoring, government reporting, organisational insight, and strategic planning across the business. You'll work across a range of reporting domains and stakeholders, helping turn complex information into trusted evidence for decision-making. You’ll operate in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where your work directly supports executive decision-making, organisational accountability, and system-wide performance improvement.
We are open to secondment opportunities as well as fixed term.
The role | Te tūnga As a Senior Analyst in the Planning & Reporting team, you’ll play a key role in delivering enterprise-wide reporting, insights, and performance monitoring.
You will: * Work across a wide range of reporting initiatives — from HR and workforce data for government accountability reporting to organisation-wide performance and delivery monitoring * Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that enable leadership decision-making and organisational improvement. * Support the development of integrated planning and reporting frameworks that connect strategy, delivery, and performance * Contribute to building efficient, scalable, and automated reporting processes, measures, dashboards and information products. * Contribute to improving the quality, consistency and usability of organisational reporting and information assets. * Collaborate with teams across Stats NZ to improve how we collect, manage, and use organisational data This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to drive better outcomes through data.

Ideally you will have a number of these capabilities, but please feel free to apply even if you don’t have experience in all.
Technical capability * Strong experience with data modelling, reporting and analytical problem solving. * Experience developing and maintaining reporting products, dashboards and performance measures. * Strong Excel capability and experience with analytical and visualisation tools such as Power BI or similar platforms. * Experience with SQL or comparable data querying and transformation tools will be highly regarded. * Ability to work with multiple data sources and ensure data quality and integrity. * Experience improving reporting processes, workflow automation, information management solutions, or self-service reporting capabilities would be highly regarded. Analytical and communication skills * Ability to translate complex data into simple, compelling insights and stories that support action and decision-making. * Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks, trends, and opportunities * Confidence working with stakeholders and presenting insights to a range of audiences Ways of working * Collaborative and relationship-focused, with the ability to work across teams and functions * Proactive and improvement-oriented, with a focus on efficiency and innovation in reporting * Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with competing priorities and deadlines * Demonstrated commitment to applying cultural capability in their practice We welcome candidates who bring strengths in organisational performance and insight generation, or technically strong analysts with experience in data modelling, reporting and analytics who are ready to take greater ownership of stakeholder engagement and organisational decision support.
