
Electronics Engineer - HDL

What You’ll Accomplish:
- Drive the HDL (Hardware Description Language) system design and realisation.
- Write the documentation of your circuits and verification tests.
- Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
- Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, working towards a common goal.
- Play a key role in building control systems for quantum computers.
- Maintain UQs’ position of using state of the art electronics solutions.
- Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
- Engage with project planning activities, risk management, and scheduling requirements.
- Help with fast turn-around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers.
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates
- Excellent knowledge of designing, developing, and testing digital logic circuits and systems using hardware description language (HDL) tools.
- Good knowledge of electronics circuit theory, including programming and architecture design skills.
- Familiarity with PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debug skills using electronics test equipment.
Must-have Skills:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in high performance Electronics Design including Digital, Analog and Embedded.
- Experience in HDL design and verification using Verilog, VHDL or System Verilog.
- Use of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, and VNA.
- Experience of FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real time systems.
- Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
- At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Nice-to-have Skills:
- A background in one of RF engineering, Research, Metrology, and instrumentation.
- Understanding of signal integrity, high speed digital, and EMC.
- Experience of C and/or scripting languages e.g. Python and MATLAB.
- Experience of LabVIEW.
- Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- Team and/or project management experience.
