Applications Engineer On-site
At Raspberry Pi, we are proud to foster an environment where those who work with us can do what they love and do it well. By joining Raspberry Pi, you’ll be adding to a lean and passionate team dedicated to democratising technology and providing affordable access to computing tools to people across the globe.
We are looking for a versatile Applications Engineer to join our hardware team. This role is for a technical all-rounder; the successful candidate will be the primary technical partner for our industrial customers, helping them navigate the entire journey of integrating Raspberry Pi Compute Modules and silicon into their commercial products.
The successful candidate will be:
- Able to move between various projects and customers
- Able to explain technical constraints clearly and professionally, acting as a trusted adviser
- Unafraid to dive into an unfamiliar part of the stack to help a customer
- Competent in schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, KiCad, or similar), with a solid understanding of design rules and board bring-up
- Comfortable working with software environments to help customers implement and test Raspberry Pi silicon
- Confident using standard bench equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analysers) and performing SMT soldering/rework when prototypes need modification
About Raspberry Pi
Founded as a charity in 2008 and selling its first computer in 2012, Raspberry Pi today comprises two separate organisations operating in two locations:
- At Raspberry Pi Ltd, we build best-selling computers, microcontrollers, and supporting software for industrial and embedded customers and home users worldwide
- The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a charitable enterprise dedicated to enabling all young people to realise their full potential through computing
Key responsibilities
We are looking for someone to perform the following tasks:
- Act as the lead technical contact for customers, providing end-to-end support from initial concept through to mass production
- Assist customers with software-level hurdles, helping them integrate our silicon into their unique software environments and form factors
- Translate complex technical information into clear and accessible application notes, white papers, and guides for the wider industrial community
- Take a hands-on approach, whether that’s using bench equipment to diagnose a hardware failure or debugging a software integration issue
Requirements and skills
Raspberry Pi values pragmatic, independent thinkers who are comfortable engaging with external customers and partners, as well as internal stakeholders at all levels of seniority. We operate in a highly collaborative work environment, and the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
In addition, candidates should have:
- Proven industry experience in a multidisciplinary engineering role (Applications, Field Applications, or Systems Engineering)
- A degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical industry experience
- A proactive approach to troubleshooting; someone who is energised by helping others succeed and seeing a customer’s product reach the market
We also offer the following benefits:
- Employer pension contributions of 8% when the employee contributes 4% of their gross salary into the salary sacrifice scheme
- Life assurance of 4× base salary
- Income protection of 75% of base salary in the event of critical illness, commencing after 13 weeks of long-term illness or absence from work
- Private medical insurance (medical history disregarded)
- Access to our electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, subject to eligibility
