FP&A Manager
Are you an experienced finance professional who enjoys looking beyond the numbers and understanding what really drives a business?
We’re looking for an FP&A Manager to join our finance team in Yeovil, working closely with our CFO and service line leaders. It’s a varied role, covering budgeting and forecasting, commercial analysis, business partnering and wider projects including scenario planning, business cases and acquisition activity.
You’ll have the opportunity to get close to the business, understand what drives performance and use your insight to help shape good commercial decisions.
What will you be doing?
- Supporting annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and longer-term business plans
- Building and developing financial models to support planning and decision-making
- Analysing performance against budget and forecast, providing clear commentary and identifying actions
- Working with service line leaders to understand revenue, WIP, billing, recovery, margins and profitability
- Analysing utilisation, chargeability, productivity and capacity to help improve resource planning and efficiency
- Maintaining cashflow forecasts and looking at debtors, collections and WIP conversion
- Collaborating with the rest of the finance team to produce monthly management information, highlighting key performance, trends, business opportunities and risks
- Reviewing sales pipeline information and ensuring this feeds into realistic revenue forecasts
- Supporting the CFO and wider business with analysis, reporting and board or investor information
- Getting involved in scenario planning, business cases and the financial and commercial assessment of potential acquisitions
There will also be plenty of opportunity to get involved in other projects as the business develops, so no two days are likely to be quite the same.
What are we looking for?
You’ll have a good finance background, along with some specific experience in FP&A or commercial finance. This could be from an FP&A or commercial finance role, or from a background in transaction services or audit where you’ve developed strong analytical and modelling skills.
Experience within professional services or another people-based business would be useful, but isn’t essential.
You’ll have strong Excel and financial modelling skills, together with experience of budgeting, forecasting and KPI analysis. You’ll also be someone who can take financial information and turn it into useful, easy-to-understand insight for the wider business.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Naturally curious and commercially minded
- Comfortable asking questions and constructively challenging others
- Able to build good relationships with people across the business
- Organised and able to manage different priorities
- Proactive and practical in their approach
- Keen to learn and develop
What’s in it for you?
You’ll work closely with our CFO and senior leadership team, getting involved in the conversations and decisions that shape the business. It’s a great opportunity to broaden your commercial experience, learn from senior colleagues and have a genuine opportunity to influence what happens next.
You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive team where people are encouraged to take ownership, share ideas and continue developing their skills.
This is a role that offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a growing business, while working alongside experienced finance professionals.
We’re a growing business, so there’s plenty of scope for the role to develop too. If you’re someone who wants to build on their existing finance experience, get closer to the commercial side of a business and have the opportunity to influence what happens next, we’d love to hear from you.
