John Paul Construction is an international technical contractor specialising in the data centre, life sciences, residential, and commercial sectors. This Irish-owned and managed business directly employs over 700 people and delivers projects across Ireland, the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.

The company’s performance across safety and sustainability was recognised during 2025 in receiving the Green Construction Award at the 2025 Green Awards, along with a Gold Award and an Exceptional High Achiever Award at the National Irish Safety Awards. The company also received the President’s Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. In the same year, John Paul Construction was also certified as a 'Great Place to Work'®.

Placement Students at John Paul Construction will support our site teams on the delivery of our projects, gaining practical experience across site operations, project management, health and safety, and quality assurance. A placement period provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a live project environment while developing industry knowledge and professional skills.

Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and other project stakeholders, the Placement Student will assist in the successful planning and execution of construction projects.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the project team in the day-to-day management of site activities

• Monitor construction progress against project programmes and schedules

• Support the coordination of subcontractors and suppliers

• Conduct site inspections alongside project engineers and managers

• Help identify and escalate site issues, risks, and delays

• Support surveying, setting out, and inspection activities where appropriate

• Promote safe working practices at all times

• Participate in site safety inspections and audits

• Support the coordination of subcontractors and suppliers

• Assist in quality inspections and recording inspection results

• Participate in snagging, defect inspections, and quality reviews

By the end of a placement period with John Paul Construction, students will have gained experience in:

• Understanding the construction project lifecycle

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications

• Teamwork and professional workplace behaviours

We fully embrace the right of all employees to work in an environment that ensures equal opportunity and treatment with dignity and respect.
