About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Quality Advisor to support maintenance, shutdown, inspection and project activities within a major refinery environment.
Reporting to the Site Management Team, this role is responsible for providing quality assurance and quality control oversight across a broad range of E&I activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved procedures, engineering standards, client requirements and Australian Standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) support for E&I maintenance, shutdown, inspection and project activities.
- Verify E&I work is executed in accordance with approved procedures, work packs, engineering standards, specifications and client work instructions.
- Conduct field inspections, audits and quality surveillance activities throughout the execution of work.
- Review and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Inspection Test Records (ITRs), check sheets and quality documentation.
- Raise, coordinate and track Technical Queries (TQs) with engineering teams to resolve technical issues prior to work execution.
- Investigate quality incidents, non-conformances and repeat failures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Support supervisors and trades personnel in meeting quality requirements and maintaining compliance with refinery procedures and Australian Standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, auditing programs and the ongoing development of quality systems and procedures.
- Facilitate quality meetings, lessons learned workshops and continuous improvement forums across multiple stakeholders.
Day-to-Day Activities
- Perform walkdowns and field inspections of scheduled maintenance, inspection and installation activities.
- Verify quality records, inspection reports, test results and progressive sign-offs are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review work packs before release to the field and identify documentation deficiencies, missing quality requirements or inspection hold points.
- Work closely with E&I Supervisors to coordinate planned work and identify required quality control activities for each scope.
- Trend and analyse quality incidents, NCRs and repeat failures to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Promote a positive quality culture through coaching, mentoring, field leadership interactions and proactive engagement with work crews.
- Monitor compliance with refinery standards, specifications and client requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Electrical Trade Qualification and current Electrical Licence or Engineering Degree.
- Experience within oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, mining, power generation or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles within maintenance and shutdown environments.
- Experience reviewing work packs, ITPs, ITRs, test documentation and inspection records.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and engineering specifications relating to electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Strong investigation, problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic quality management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, planners, trades personnel and client representatives.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV in Quality Auditing or Quality Management.
- Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
- Experience working within a refinery or petrochemical facility.
- Previous experience supporting major shutdowns and turnaround events.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
