Senior QA Automation Engineer
Role:
Senior QA Automation Engineer
About You:
Are you the kind of engineer who sees quality as a technical challenge rather than a manual process? Do you enjoy building automated test frameworks, creating release safeguards and preventing production issues before they happen? Are you as comfortable writing code as you are designing quality strategies and identifying risks across complex systems? If you enjoy improving how software is built, tested and released, DFYNE could be exactly where you belong.
About DFYNE:
A picture paints a thousand words… and we’re sure you don’t want to sit here reading a corporate essay about who we are. Honestly, how can you really get under the skin of DFYNE from a few lines on a screen? So instead, go have a look for yourself, see what we’re about, what we stand for, and why people love us: www.dfyne.com.
About the role — DFYNE Your Career:
Before I tell you more about the role, let me introduce myself. I’m Bruce, Head of Development at DFYNE, and I’m looking for our first dedicated Senior QA Automation Engineer. This is a hands-on engineering role that will help define quality engineering across DFYNE. Reporting directly to the Head of Development, you will work alongside our Staff Software Engineer to build the test infrastructure, automation coverage and quality gates that allow our teams to move quickly without compromising reliability. You will help protect systems that handle commission payouts, refunds, inventory synchronisation, shipping labels and other business-critical processes where quality has a direct commercial impact.
Attitude:
• Ownership mentality
• Engineering-first approach
• Attention to detail
• Risk-based thinking
• Continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain integration test infrastructure that runs against real databases and realistic service environments.
• Design and implement automated regression coverage across business-critical workflows.
• Own CI quality gates and contribute to release readiness processes.
• Develop end-to-end testing coverage for revenue-critical customer journeys.
• Create and maintain realistic and secure test data strategies.
• Work closely with engineers to identify and prevent quality risks early in the development lifecycle.
• Improve test reliability, execution speed and developer adoption.
• Support incident investigations by identifying testing gaps and opportunities for preventative coverage.
• Contribute to engineering standards, software quality practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Operations teams to ensure quality requirements are understood and delivered.
Skills & Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation, SDET or software engineering with a quality focus.
• Strong TypeScript or Python development experience.
• Deep integration testing experience using real dependencies including databases, queues and simulated third-party services.
• Strong Playwright, Cypress or equivalent end-to-end testing experience.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD quality gates, ideally using GitHub Actions.
• Strong understanding of automated testing strategies and risk-based testing approaches.
• Experience building scalable, maintainable test frameworks.
• Ability to write production-quality code.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capability.
Nice to Have:
• E-commerce or payments experience.
• Contract testing experience.
• Performance and load testing experience.
• Google Cloud Platform familiarity.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
So, what’s in it for you?:
If you’ve made it this far down without being put off, brilliant. I’d genuinely love to hear from you. Beyond joining a work family and a genuinely great place to build your career, you’ll become DFYNE’s first dedicated quality engineering hire and help define how quality is delivered across one of the UK’s fastest-growing companies. You’ll build systems and processes that have a visible impact on reliability, customer experience and business performance.
You’ll be part of a high challenge; high reward culture.
What will aid a successful application with DFYNE:
• Cover letter
• Completed questionnaire
Salary starting from £55K per year.
